DESIGN FOR A SEAMSTRESS KNIFE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 32,083, dated January 9, 1900.
Application filed December 11, 1899. Serial No. 740,008. Term of patent 14 years.
To all! whom it may concern..-
Be it known that I, JENNIE CONLEY, a citizen of theUnited States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, nave invented and produced a new and original Design for a seamstress Knife, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming art thereof.
Figure 1 is a View in side elevation of a knife, showing my new design. Fig. 2 is an edge view thereof. Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional View taken on line 3 3 of Fig. 1; and Fig. 4 is a similar view taken on line 4 i of Fig. 1,1ooking in the direction indicated by the arrows.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material features of my design consist of a. body or handle A, having at one of its endsa blade B and at its other end a point or horn C, which is cylindrical in cross-section, as shown in Fig. 3 of the drawings. The handle A when viewed from the side is of an elongated oval shape and tapers gradually toward the blade, which has its cutting edge curved,
as shown, and its back or reverse edge provided with an enlargement b, the sides of which are slightly beveled. The portion 1) of the blade adjacent to thohandle A is slightly thickened and rounded or of an elliptical shape. The sides of the handle are flattened and slightly curved inwardly, thus producing thickened portions Ct and a. near the ends thereof. The said flattened surfaces terminate at their ends adjacentto the point or horn C in curves, as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The design foraseainstress knife, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this application in the presence of two witnesses.
