Description

DESIGN.
D. M. IRELAND; STOVE URN.
No. 28,765. Patented May 31, 1898.
WITNESSES UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DAVID M. IRELAND, OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN.
DESIGN FOR A STOVE-URN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,765, dated May 31, 1898.
Application filed September 2'7, 1897. Serial No. 653,258. Term of patent 3%- years.
To aZZ whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, DAVID M. IRELAND, a citizen of the United States, residing at Detroit, in the county of Wayne, State of Michigan, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Stove-Urns, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which forms a part of this specification.
This invention relates to a design for metal urns, especially stove-urns; and it consists in the contour and configuration shown in the accompany drawing, which presents a side elevation of my design.
The leading feature of my design consists in the general shape and appearance of the urn.
The body A of the urn is round in form and is provided upon the face thereof with a figure representing the trunk, branches, and foliage of an oak-tree, as shown at B. The top 0 of the urn is pryamidal and carries the enlarged ornamental tip C. The pedestal D of said urn is in the form of a short column, whose capitol and base are flaring.
This
pedestal rests upon a base E, having the general shape of a truncated cone, the outline of whose wall describes a series of meeting curves and angles.
The handles F of said urn describe an open scroll whose convolved ends bear the ornamental figures G and II, as shown. These handles are arranged upon opposite sides of the round body of the urn and are suitably attached thereto. Extending upward from the main scroll of said handles are the short inner scrolls I, Whose inwardly-curved ends are provided with the ornamental figures J, the whole presenting an attractive design for an ornamental urn of original and peculiar shape.
Having thus set forth my invention, ,what I claim is The design for an urn substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
DAVID M. IRELAND. lVitnesses:
