To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RICHARD WILLIAM BINNS, director of the Royal Porcelain \Vorks, \Vorcestcr, and a subjectof the Queen of Great Britain, residing at \Vorccster, in the county of \Vorccster, in the Kingdom of Great Britain, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Jug or Vase, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photograph, forming a part thereof.
The leading features of the design are as follows: a conical fluted body with each flute terminating as a sort of separate blade with a pendant standing in relief on a short conical part, a bottom formed of a crenelatcd cone, a bead, and a second curved cone expanding to its junction with the cone forming the bottom of the body, ahaudle with ornamental device joining it to the lower part of the bottom, rescmblingthe bottom of a Doric column at the base, and terminating as a sleeve round the body of the handle having a scroll attached thereto. The top of the handle is attached to the body by an ornamental device somewhat resembling the capital of a pillar or a crown. The body proper terminates with a. erenelated pattern beading, and with a mouth resembling the sheath of an arum before its full expansion.
\Vhat I claim is 1. The design for a jug or vase herein shown and described, the same comprising a crenclated base, a beading and expanded curved cone, a short contracting cone meeting this, a larger fluted cone above terminating on the cone below, each flute having a separate blade with pendants, a'handle resembling a Doric column with the fluted lower part as a sleeve extending for only a short distance and having a scroll, the body termi- Dating above as a crenelated beading and surmounted by a tall mouth resembling the sheath of an arum in shape.
2. In the design of a jug or vase herein described, thehandle resembling a tapering pillar with fluted and beaded base and plain body bent over and joined at each end to a body fluted and beaded below and plain above the fluted portion.
