Specification forming part of Design No. 9,966, dated May 8, l877; application tiled April 27, 1877. [Term of Patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JAMES MORGAN, of Brooklyn, county of Kings, and State of New York, have invented a Design for a Monument, of which the following is a specificatioll:
The nature of my design is fully shown in the accompanying drawing, to which reference is made.
llhe design relates to gravemonuinents; and consists of a step-shaped base, a plain trunk, and an enlarged capital with pyramidal top part and crowning vase.
In the drawing, A represents the base, consisting of a large step, a tapering portion, b, step d, of smaller size, larger inclined step c, and small straight top 6', on which the slightly tapering middle or trunk section B is placed. The capital 0 extends from the trunk by a groove, f, concave molding f, and step f, on which the square base portion g of the capital rests, the same being ornamented in suitable manner. From the square base g of the capital rises a pyramidal top part, D, having outwardly-projecting steps h, and a crown ing vase, D, with side ribs h surmounting the same.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patexit- 1. The design for a monument, consisting of a base-section, A, middle trunk-section B, enlarged capital 0, pyramidal and step-shaped top part D, and surmonnting vase D, substantially as shown and described.
