DESIGN FOR MONUMENTS.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 11,793, dated May 25, 1880.

Application filed May 3, 1880. Term of patent 7 years.

To all whom 1' t may concern Be it known that we, JOSHUA POOL and JOSEPH PooL, both citizens of the United States, residing at Grcensburg, in the county of Decatur and State of Indiana, have iiivented and produced a new and original Design for a Monument, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof,

in which our newly-designed monumentis fully illustrated by a single side elevation.

The leading feature of our new design consists of the monument hereinafter described, which is mounted on a square base, A, made of two or more pieces.

The first section of the monument above the base A is the base B, which is square and furnished at its top with four gables having tapered tops 13 and a square center, B tapered to lit the lower end of the die O. The die 0 is square at its top and bottom and has its corners beveled, as shown.

The cap I) is square at its base, with a molding to match the top of the die (1, and each side at the top is finished with roundtopped gables D, and the centeris made square and tapering, as at D the upper end of this tapering center D being finished to fit a square plinth, E, on which is placed a square urn, F. The base of the urn is molded, as shown.

On the lower portion of the bowl of the urn are four panels,one on each side. On the upper portion of the bowl are four panels, one on each side. The upper portion of the urn consists of the neck and a diamond-shaped apex, as shown; but the urn maybe made to the same outline or shape and provided with panels of diflerent shape, or the panels may be dispensed with altogether, if desired.

What we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. The design of a sectional monument, consisting of a square base, A, the sectional base P, with taperedtopped gables B, the die O, above which is fitted the square cap I), having round-topped gables l) on its four sides, the square plinth E, and the square urn F, with or without panels, as shown and described.

2. The design of a sectional monument as a whole, with its various sections, consisting of the base B, the die 0, the cap I), the plinth E, and urn F, fitted together, substantially as shown and described.

3. The design of the square urn F, substantially as shown and described.
