DESIGN FOR A MONUMENT.
Specification forming part of Design N0,9,967, dated May 8, 1877; application filed April 27, 1877. [Term of Patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JAMES MORGAN, of Brooklyn, county of Kings, and State of New York, have invented a Design for a Mono.- ment, of which the following is a specification:
The nature of my design is fully shown in the accompanying drawing, to which reference is made.
The design refers to a monument for graves; and consists of a base, a column, and surmounting vase, as will be more fully described.
In the drawing, A represents the base of the monument, which consists of base-steps a and b, of diminishing size, with intermediate tapering parts a b, of a tapering middle or trunk section, (1, with enlarged molding, and top part c, supporting the base of the column B. The base f consists of a pyramidallyshaped base-step, f a convex molding, f a concave molding, f, and a raised band, f
The shaft of the column rises from the base f with the usual degree of taper, the capital 9 extending, by araised top band, 9, and moldingg, from the shaft. The capital g is cut ontsomething in the shape ofa battlement, and surmounted by a hemispherical part, it, supporting a vase, O, that crows the entire monument.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The design for a monnment,composed of a base, A, made of base-steps a b, tapering part a, b, trunk 61, and top 0, of a column, B, having a base,fff f, shaft and capitalgg g, top part h, and crowning vase O, substantially as shown and described.
