DESIGN FOR A BICYCLE-FRAME.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 25,999, dated September 8, 1896. Application filed May 16, 1896. Serial No. 591,886. Term of patent 7 years.
lle it known that 1, LEE S1[Tlu.*1ts,a citizen of the United States, and a resident of .Ifllluhurst, in the county of Du Page and State olf Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original l)esign for Bicycle'Frames, of which the following is a specification, refer ence being had to the accompanying drawing, which shows a perspective view of the frame as a whole.
The distinctive feature of my design con sists in the peculiar shape and configuration of certain raised portions which surround or surmount the l'ramcdiars at the several joi uts of the frame, to wit: at the head, the vl'ront forks, the crank-hanger, and seat-post. At the juncture of the head. A with the upper framc-bar A are raised portions Ct,\\l1i(3ll extend from the head A rearwardly along said bar on opposite sides thereof and terminate in rounded tapering paints. Similar raised portions a extend from the head rearwardly along the lower frame-bar A and have similar pointed terminals. lioth the raised portions a and a are flush with the head A, and a smooth continuous surface is presented from the point of the upper portions a around down the head to the points of the lower portion a. At the crank-hanger A raised portions a a and of a extend from the crankhangcr along the lower frame'bar A and upright A and terminate in rounded tapering points. These raised portions a and a are :fiush with andv merge into each other at and around the crank-lutnger, and, as seen in side elevation, present a bifurcated appearance alone the lower end of said bars 1V and A". Similar bifurcated raised portions (1 extend rearwardly along the lower rear fork-bars past the cross-brace A". The ends of the frame-bars A and A, near the seat-post t, are provided with lateral raised port-ions d and n, which round into and are ilush with each other and which terminate in somewhat llluntly-pointed ends, like the raised portions at the other joints of the frame.
The front forks ii are provided at their up per ends with raised portions b and li',whieh extend downwardly along, the front and rear edges of the Forks. At the upper end oil the latter, just beneath the fork-crown 1F, said raised portions (1 and I) merge into each other and completely surround the fork-bar. At their lower ends said raised portions taper to blunt points and the raised portions Z: are made considerably longer than the raised portions 7/.
I claim as my invention- The design for a bicycle-frame, substantiall as shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I affix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses, this 13th day of May, A. D. 18%.
