FIG].
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
GEORGE DOUGLAS LEECIIMAN, OF COVENTRY, ENGLAND.
DESIGN FOR A TANDEM-VELOCIPEDE FRAME.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 29,111, dated July 26, 1898.
Application filed July 31, 1897. Serial No. 646,712. Term of patent 7 years. Registered in England December 23, 1896, No. 290,727.
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE DOUGLAS LEECHMAN, asubject of the Queen of Great Britain, residing at Coventry, in the county of \Varwick, England, have invented and produced a new and original Design for the Frames of Tandem Velocipedes, (for Which I have obtained registration in Great Britain, No. 290,727, dated December 23, 1896,) of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, showing a side elevation thereof in Figure I and a perspective View in Fig. II.
The leading feature of my design consists in two substantially parallel members A 13, running rearward and somewhat downward from the head (J. The diagonal members D and E, the back forks F and G, the front chain-stay H, and the lower backbone J are of ordinary construction, as shown. A stay K rises from the rear crank-hanger L to the top of the front diagonal member D, which it supports. The member A crosses the members D, K, and E, and in the case of a tandem bicycle the rear part A thereof is bifurcated. The said member A runs from the upper part of the head 0 to the rear angle M of the frame. The member 13 runs from the lower part of the head 0 to the rear crank-hanger L, crossing the front diagonal D on the way.
What I claim is The design for a tandem-velocipede frame herein shown and described.
GEORGE DOUGLAS LEECHMAN.
