DESIGN FOR A HANDLE-BAR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 26,340, dated November 24, 1896.
Application filed September 18, 1896. Serial No. 606,300. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern/.-
Be it known that I, Bonner W. MURPHY, of New York, (Riverdale,) in the county and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Bicycle Handle-Bar, of which the following is a full clear, and exact description.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure '1 is a perspective View of a bicycle handle-bar embodying my design. Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof, and Fig. 3 is a front elevation.
The leading feature of my design consists in the handle-bar extended upward from its 6 central portion, then laterally,and then down- Referring to the drawings, 1 designates the center of the handlebar, from which the bar is extended upward at each side, as at 2, thence laterally, as at 3, and then downward and rearward, as at 4. The lateral portions are provided with enlargements or hand-grips 5, and the two ends are provided with enlargements or hand-grips 6.
The portions 2, it will be seen, have a considerable length and the portions 4c curve forward beyond the vertical plane of the portions 2 and then rearward below the plane of the central portion.
