DESIGN FOR A BICYCLE-SADDLE SEAT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,382, dated March 15, 1898.
Application filed September 15 1897. Serial No. 651,799. Term of patent 14 years.

Be it known that I, ARTHUR L. GARFORD, citizen of the United States, residing at Elyria, in the countyof Lorain and State of )hio, have invented and produced a new, useul, and original Design fora Bicycle-Saddle ieat, of which the following is a full, clear, tl'ld exact description, reference being had to he accompanying drawings, forming a part hereof.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view of he saddle. Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof, tlld Fig. 3 is a sectional view on line 3 3 of Tig. 2.
The leading features of my design consist )f a substantially pear-shaped seat of conaiderable thickness, having its broad rear end :urved upward and having a lenticular hole i'ormed longitudinally in its middle part and iaving its top surface at each side of the :"ront end of said hole forming rounded parts i116 tops of which are above the level of the surface of the saddle immediately in front of :hem, the top surface of the seat curving downward toward and uniting with the bottom surface at the marginal edges and the edges of said hole.
Referring to the parts by letters, A represents the horn or pommel part of the seat,-and B the upwardly-curved broad rear part of the seat, and O the intermediate part, these three parts together giving the pear-shaped form to the seat.
