nn-zsq m DESIGN.
F. B. HAVLIN. BICYCLE SADDLE.
No. 25,485. Patented May 12, 1896.
UNITED STATEs PATENT OFFICE.
hltANh l lllMHNl) HAVLIN, ()l NOlHVUUT), ()lllU.
DESIGN FOR A BICYCLE-SADDLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 25,485, dated May 12, 1896.
m mti nfilal February 28,1896. Serial No. 581,208. Term of patent 'Fyerus To all whom it 1110] eoitcel'n;
Be it known that 1, FRANK EnMUNn HAW LIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Nm'WOOd, in the county of l'l'anillton and State of Ohio, have invented a new and originalDe- Sign for Bicycle-Saddles, Which improvement is fullyset forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings, in which Figure] is a plan View of a saddle, showing my design; and Fig. 2 a general perspective VlCW.
The principal features of the design will be apparent by referring to the accompanying drawings, in which it will be seen that the saddle is bifurcated by a central slot or open ing A, extending rearwardly from the front. It will be observed that the slot does not approximate the rear edge so closely as to impair the strength or rigidity of the structure. Midway between the said slot and the outer sides of the saddle are apertures 13 and (I, which are preferably elliptical in form.
When viewed from the side, the saddle exhibits a s]igl1tly-protuberant surf ace, the up per corners of the sides and rear and those bordering the central slot and the apertures and 0 being uniformly rounded.
The design presents an exccptionall y novel and comely appearance, and in practical use will prove conducive to the eoml'iint, as well as the health of the rider.
What I claim new is The design for a saddle substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand, this 10th day of February, 1806, in the presence of witnesses.
FRANK EDMUND HAYLIN.
W itnesses:
STANLEY M. LANeooN, HARRY J. MORTIMER.
