Description

DlZ-lll. O? D 271873 EX DESIGN.
H. G. PIFFARD. BICYCLE FRAME.
No. 27,873. Patented Nov. 16, 1897.
Wz'masscs I m/c'lztor 6 Henry G Biffani Attorney UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY G. PIFFARD, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A BICYCLE-FRAME.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,873, dated November 16, 1897.
Application filed June 30,1897. Serial No. 643,032. Term of patent '7 years.
To all whom it vita/y concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY G. PIFFARD, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Design for a Bicyeie-l rame, of which the following is a specification.
The accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this specification, representsa bicycleframe of my design.
A is the handle-post, terminated by the forks for the front wheel.
15 is the saddle-post, having at its lower end the bearing for the crank-shaft.
C is the lower front brace, extending from said bearing to the handle-post, which it joins just above the forks.
F is the upperstay, which extends horizontally from a point on the saddle-post somewhat below the upperend thereof to the handle-post, to which it is joined as closely as possible to the end of the brace C.
D and E represent, respectively, the upper and lower rear braces, which are united at their rear ends and there formed to receive 25 the rear axle, from which point they extend, respectively, to the upper end of the saddlepost and t0 the bearing for the crank-axle at the lower end of said post.
B y the'arrangement of parts just described 30 the brace G and stay F form a triangle with the lower portion of the saddle-post, while the rear braces D and E form a triangle with the whole of the saddle-post, the adjacent sides of said triangle being thereby of un- 35 equal lengths. Thus a double triangular bicycle-frame is formed instead of a diamond frame.
I claim as my invention The design for a bicycle-frame, substan- 4o tially as shown and described.
Signed at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, this 28th day of June, A. D. 1897.
HENRY G. PIFFARD.
'itnesses:
WILLIAM RALPH, F. G. HENRY.
