DlZ-lll. OR D 32q370 EX DESIGN.
No. 32,370. Patented Mar. 20, I900.
C. U. E. MATTHERN. BICYCLE FRAME.
(Application filed Feb. 10, 1900.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES O. E. MATTIIERN, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
DESIGN FOR A BICYCLE-FRAME.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 32,370, dated March 20, 1900; Application filed February 19,1900. Serial No. 5,854. Term of patent 14 years To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES O. E. MAT- THERN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, county of Cook, State of Illinois, have invented and produced a certain new and original Design for Bicycle-Frames, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure 1 represents the bicycle-frame in side elevation. Fig. 2 shows the same in perspective.
In general outline the frame is of the diamond type, consisting of the socket-head 1, upper tube 2, lower tube 3, the central or forward upright 4, upper rear fork 5, rear fork 6, and the rear upright 7. The crank-hanger or journal-bearing 8 is eylindricin form, and the members of the rear fork 6 are, it will be observed, united at their forward ends to form a crown 9. A cylindric hanger or jour-' nal-bearing 10 appears at the juncture of the fork 5 with the upright 7. When viewed from the side, the forks 5 and 6 and the tube 7 combine to form a triangle.
The essential feature of my design consists in the upper rear fork 5, having the eylindric hanger or journal-bearing 10 at its juncture with the rear upright 7.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a bicycle-frame, substantially as herein shown and described.
CHARLES O. E. MATTHERN.
