DESlGN FOR A BICYCLE-FRAME.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 31,448, dated August 22, 1899.
Application filed July 31,1899 Serial No. 725.698 Term of patent 14 years.
To all! whom it may concern.-
e it known that I, JONAS L. KNOLL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lebanon, in the county of Lebanonand State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design fora BieycleFrame; and I do herebydeclare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference beinghad to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.
The drawing represents my bicycle-frame in perspective.
As shown in the drawing, the leading feature of my design consists in the backbone A, representing-a flat spring-bar slightly arched and having its rear end bent more acutely and forked into two branches a a, the seatpost 13 representing a Hat springbar having its lower end attached to the shaft-hanger C and its upper end to the bottom of the backb0ne,the front reach D representinga straight fiat spring-bar uniting the shaft-hanger C to the front sleeve of the steering-rod. A flat bar E has one end secured to the front reach and the other end to the bottom of the backbone, its middle portion being bent rearwardly and secu red to the seatpost at e. A straight springbrace I! has one end secured to the rear of the seat-post adjacent to the middle portion 6 and its rear end to the acutely-bent portion of the backbone. The frame has also a flatbar brace G, uniting the front half of the backbone to the bottom of the sleeve of the steering-rod, and a small brace-bary also unites the brace G to the bottom of the backbone.
