DESIGN FOR A CANE OR UMBRELLA HANDLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,942, dated June 24, 1890.
Application filed April 15, lilQO. Serial No. 348,104. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY 0. SCHMIDT, a citizen of the United States, residing in New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Cane or Umbrella. Handles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
In the drawing is shown a side elevation of a cane or umbrella handle illustrating my new design.
A is the vertical or body part, and extends upwardly andsupports the cross-bar B, which is of plain surface and with oblique plain ends (J C. The upper part of the body, where it encircles the cross-bar B, is formed with vertical ribs D, which, as they descend upon either side, spread laterally, forming the lower Immediately upon each side of the ribbed portion D the cross-bar B is relieved by two annular rings E E, highly ornamented. The body part A is bounded on the bottom by a base part G, which is ornamented, and that portion of the body between the said part G and the partH is slightly swelled and shaded to act as a relief to the plain portions H D.
The handle is made of any suitable material.
Having now described my new design, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by-Lett-ers Patent, is-
The design for umbrella or cane handles, substantially as herein described and shown.
