DESIGN FOR A FONT OF PRINTING-TYPE.

Be it known that I, ANDREW LITTLE, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design i'ora Fontof Printing Type, of which the fol lowing is a speciiieat ion.

The nature of my design is clearly shown in the accompanying typographic impression, to which reference is made; and it consists of an unshadell ornamental letter the characteris tic feature of which, as shown in the B, O, D, .l U, 1, (,3, and S, may be said to bethc scrolllike ornamentation. In the J, L, N. R, T, U, Y, X, and Z the curred line with dot terminat ion occurs, as shown.

In the A the upper crossline has the int-linedlinc termination at each end, and the cross ornamentation is composed of the in clined lines meeting at a central point. The

-, inclined-linttermination also characterizes the F, U, and Z. as shown at the top of these letters.

The H, J, Ii, )1, X, and R are extended below tlze line. The central ornamentation of the 11 is siniilartothat of theA, andtherighthand and left hand portions of the \V extend above the central portion.

The character of the design is preserved in the numerals, the symbol 81', the dollar ;and pound-sterling marks, the punctuationmarks, and the lowercase, the curved line with dot termination being found in the f, g, h, j, m, n, s, t, and y.

Having now described my invention, I claim as new The design fora font of printingtype, as described and shown, the same consisting of an unshadcd ornamental letter, the B, C, I), E, O, P, Q, and S having the scroll ornamentation, as shown, the J, L, M, N, R, '1', U, V, X, and Z having, the curved line followed by the dottermination, as shown, the upper crossline of the A having the inclined line at each end, the cross ornamentation of the A and II composed of the inclined lines meeting at a central point, the inclined-line termination being found in the F, G, and Z, as shown, the H, K, M, N, and R extended below the line, the right-hand and left-hand portions of the \V extended above the central portion. and the character of the design preserved in the numerals, symbol "&, and dollar and pound sterling marks, the punctuation-marks, and the lower-case.
