DESIGN FOR A COOKING-STOVE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 15,678, dated January 6, 1885.

Application filed October 20, 1884. Term of patent 7 years.

To all whom it may concern:

. Be it known that I, H. CLAY BASCOM, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city of Troy, in the county of Rensselaer and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a (JookingStove, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying engraving of a cooking-stove having said design.

This design relates to new and distinctive parts and combinations of parts which go to make up the whole design, as hereinafter specified.

One complete distinctive part of this design is the ornamentation of the door B, having the form shown, which ornamentation con- I sists of the compound ornamented arch e, the two standing ornaments f at the ends of the arch, the compound lower corner ornaments, g, the ornamented beadings h, connecting the two ornaments g, and the two standing beadings i, connecting the ornaments g with the ends of the arch c, as shown. A further part of this design is the shape and ornamentation of the oven-door, of the form shown, and embracing the ornamental border 0 f g h t, as above specified, in combination with the raised plate ornament A, having the form of an ellipse, with the four acute-angled projections a, that appear to be parts of two triangular figures which extend to the center of the plate, and have therein the spreading incut ornaments b, and are crossed by the end bars of the rectangular figures c,while the incut ornaments d are in the outer side portions of the plate-face. Another part relates to the ornamentation of the rectangular door 0, consisting of the compound scroll form and fioret central ornament, j, and the compound top and bottom ornamental arches, k, with the corner ornaments, Z. The ornamentation of the quadrilateral panels Dand E consists of the central panel ornament, m, the ornamental arch n, with the end ornaments, n, the com- 5 pound lower corner ornaments, 0, with the bottom connection, 0, and the lateral connections 0". The ornamentation of the commonshaped side plate, F, consists of the compound scroll and floral ornament p on the forward extensiomq, having the'c-urved front end molding, q, and the molding qalong the bottom and rear borders of the plate.

The design for the front of the stove enibraces the upper front plate, having the overhanging eonvexly-curved upper part; the door G, consisting of the flat upper part, 'r, having the three quadrilateral mica lights 1", with curved truncate corners; the inclined nameband 8, and the flat lower part, t, having the four oblong apertures t, with the lower corners rectangular, and the upper ones truncate; the hearth, extending upward and rearward along the sides of the stove, and the concavely-curved lower front plate, as shown.

The design for the stove-support embraces the side skirting, H, havingthe central ornament, u, lateral ornaments u, and ornamental border parts 1) o, the end skirting, I, having the central ornament, w, lateral ornaments w, and the ornamental border parts a; x, and the legs having the ornaments y.

The design for the legs J embraces the central compound ornament, y, on the surface y, which is curved convexly in the middle and has its lateral portions curved at their ends and in planes at right angles to each other, and the convexlycurved and downwardlycontracted lower portion, 2.

The whole design embraces the shape an ornamentation of the top, theside, including the panel-plate A, doors B Ofpanels D E, and plate F, the front, including the hearth and door G, the bottom, the skirtings H I, and the legs, substantially as shown in the accompanylng engraving.

I claim as new- 1. In a design for astove, the ornamentation of the rectangular door 0, embracingthe parts j k l, as shown and described.

4. In a design for a stove, the ornamentation of the quadrilateral panels D E, consisting of the arts m n n 0 0'0 as shown and described.

5. In a design for a stove, the shape and ornamentation of the side plate, F, embracing the parts p, q, q, and g as shown and described.

6. In a design for a stove, the shape and ornamentation of the front, embracing the overhanging convexly-eurved upper part, the door G, having the ornamental parts r r s t t, as specified, the hearth having upward and rearward side extensions, and the retreating concavely-curved lower front plate, as shown and described.

7. In a design for a stove, the stove-sup port embracing the side skirting, H, having the ornamental parts u u v '0', the end skirting, I, having the ornamental parts 10 wm Y00, and the legs having the ornament y, as set forth.

8. In a design for a stove, the shape and ornamentation of the legs J, embracing the parts 3/ y z, substantially as shown and described.

9. The design for a cooking-stove, embracing the top, the side, including the parts A B G D E F, the front, including the hearth and door G, the bottom, the skirtings H I, and the legs, shaped and ornamented substantially as set forth.
