DESIGN FOR COOKING-STOVES.
Specification forming part of Design No. 10, [43, dated August 7, 1877 application filed June 18, 1877.
[Term of Patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JAMES A. Lawson, of the city of Troy, county of Rensselaer, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Design for the ornamentation of a Oookin g-Stove, of which the following is a speci tication:
My invention relates to the ornamental form and ornamentation of the several parts of a cooking-stove, considered as entireties, and also in the combination of these same elements as an aggregate, to form the ornamentation of a cooking-stove.
These elements, separately considered, cousist of- First, the ornamental cornice formed upon the edge of the boiler-hole top of the stove, as shown in the accompanying illustration at A, and as composed of the upper molding in cavetto c, the adjoining fillet and molding in ovolo o, the succeeding fillet and ogee molding d, the contiguous surface in the flat prominent-beveled band-molding o, the ogee mold ing in recession 8, and the convoluted lower terminal border m.
Second, my invention further consists of the surface-ornamentation formed at the angles of the doors and opposite their hinge attachments, made to represent projecting hingestraps, and composed at the corners of the angles of an inolosed Maltese cross with inclosing, interlacing, and extended lines to a terminal representation of a rivet attachment. The straps, as shown, are arranged parallel to the door-corners at a a a. a a a a a.
Third, my invention consists of the relief gnomonic panel P, formed in the end of the reservoir-section, and recessed panel end of the section, as bordered and shown.
Fourth, my invention further consists in combination of the molding applied to the top of the reservoir, composed of the upper ovolo molding a, fillet k, and beveled band-molding .1 as inclosed at B, the front name-panel L, and the gnomonic panel P.
.Fifth, my invention further consists of the medallion center, as formed upon the reliefpanel of the oven-door, and as ornamented by a Maltese cross, with sprigs between the arms and at the end of the arms, as shown in the door D at M.
Sixth, my invention also consists of the panel formed upon the front of the reservoir and above the boiler-hole top of the stove, (shown at L,) for the display of the trade-name of the stove.
Seventh, my invention further consists of the two projecting panels J and V, the latter projected from the former, and the panelJ projected in relief from the stove, with the interlaced imitation of hinge-strapping shown at ll! ll! ll!- Eighth, my invention also consists in the combination or subcombination of the fore going elements, as the same are illustrated as applied to the designated parts of a cookingstove.
Having thus described my invention of a design for these various features of ornamentation as applied to parts of a cooking-stove, and also their aggregation, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The design for the ornamental cornice A, as applied to the boiler-hole top of a cooking stove or range, and consisting of the upper molding in cavetto c, the adjoining fillet and molding in ovolo o, fillet and ogee molding d, the contiguous surface on the flat beveled bandmolding 0", the ogee molding in recession 8, and the lower terminal convoluted border m, as shown and described.
2. The ornamental design for a hinge-representation, as shown at the corners of a door at a a a a a a a, and as described.
3. The design for the gnomonic panel P, formed in the end of the reservoir-section, as shown and described.
4. The design for the ornamentation of the reservoir, consisting of the compound moldingcornice B, front name-panel L, and end gnomonio panel P, as the same is shown and described.
