DESIGN FOR A HEATING-STOVE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,799, dated March 7, 1882.

Application filed January 16, 1882. Term of patent 7 years.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, THOMAS J. Honerrrns, of Peekskill, VVestchester county, and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for the ()rnamentation of Heating- Stoves, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to the ornamental form and surface ornamentation of a heating-stove and its parts,as shown in the annexed en graving, forming a part of this specification; and, with the parts considered and described separately, it consists, first, in the form of the apex ornament A, which is placed on the stove-top, and has downwardly and outwardly tapering sides bounded by the scrolls m m, the intermediate angular top, m interior openwork, m and platform m second, in the flattened pyramidal form of the stove-top proper, as indicated at O, and its exterior ornamentation, composed of the mitered and filleted moldings O 0 0 the intermediate openwork, O" O", and the overhang of the top third,in the manner of ornamenting the panels F F, one of which is placed at each of the upper corners of the stove-front beneath the overhang of the top, these panels having the grained surfaces 6, border 0, and an ornamental letter, 6 in relief in the panelcenter; fourth, in the application of the elongated ornamental scrollbrackets E E, placed beneath the overhang of the top and upon the sides of the stove opposite the panels F F; fifth, in the application of the ornamental pilasters I P to the front of the stove, at the sides, with their molded and mitered caps beneath the overhang of. the panels F F and their molded and mitered plinths on the stove-hearth, and their fronts longitudinally recessed, as indicated at p p; sixth, in the ornamentation of the stove-door upon the front, as indicated at D, consisting of the grained and recessed central panel, (1', with the tradename of the stove displayed in relief letters therein, the filleted band-moldings (Pol upon the door-front,and the beveled band-molding cl upon the edge of the door; seventh, in the ornamentation of the end door,

S, consisting in the panel S having the bordermolding S and the grained surface S, with a central oval ornament, S eighth,in the combination of the ornamental form and ornamentation of the apex ornament A, stove-top O, the panels F F, the ornamental brackets E E, pilasters PP, front stove-door, D, and that of end door, S, as I have detailed and described them herein.

Having thus described my invention of a design and the sub-combination of the elements of which it is composed as applied to the parts of astove,and in combination to its combined parts, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. The design for the apex A, consisting of the downwardly-taperin g side scrolls, m m, the intermediate an gnlarly-pointed top, on, interior open-work, m and the platform m, as shown and described.

2. The design for the stove-topO,consisting of its flattened pyramidal form, its filleted and mitered moldings O O O, the intermediate open-worh, O O, and the overhang of the top 0 as herein shown and described.

3. The design for stoves, consisting of the ornamental panels F F upon the stove-front, at the upper corners,beneath the overhanging top, having grained panel-surfaces e e, molded border a, and a letter, 0 in relief in the panel-center, as shown and described.

4. The design for stoves, consisting of the elongated brackets E E at the sides of the stove-front and beneath the overhanging top, as shown and described.

5. The design for the ornamental pilasters P P, applied to the stove on the front, at the sides of the latter, with their mitered and molded caps beneath the panels FF and their molded and mitered plinths on the stovehearth, and having their fronts longitudinally recessed by means of the panels p p, as shown and described.

6. The design for the ornamentation of the front stove-door, D, consisting of the grained central recessed panel, d, with the trade-name of the stove displayed therein in relief, the filleted band-moldin gs d d upon the door-front, and the beveled band-moldingd upon the edge of the door, as shown and described.

7. The design for the end door, S,eonsisting 5 of panel S having the grained surface S and the central relief ornament, S as shown and described.

8. The design for the ornamentation of a heating-stove, consisting of the form and orna- IO mentation of the apex A, stove-top 0, the panels F F, ornamental brackets E E, pilasters P P, front stove-door, D, and end door, S, as shown and described.
