UNITED STATES PATENT AUGUSTUS P. oORsE, OE TROY, NEW'YORK, ASSIGNOR To EDDY, ooRsE a OO., OE SAME PLAGE.
DESIGN Fon cooKING-s'roves.
Specification forming part of Design No. 9,1866, dated March 27, 1877; application tiled January 2, 1F77. [Term of Patent 7 years.]
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AUGUSTUS P. CORSE, of the city of Troy, Rensselaer county, and State of New York, have invented a Design for the Ornamentation of Cooking-Stoves, of which the following is a specilication:
My invention of a design for the ornamentation of a cookingstove, as shown in the accompanying illustration, consists of the following parts:
First. In the manner ofinclosing and ornamenting the panel upon the oven-door D; this is accomplished and produced by the display on the milled field p of the trade name of the Stove, Leader,7 in looped tapering script-letter capitals. The milled area of the panel p is inclosed and recessed by means of the projecting abrupt beveled band-moldingd, and its inner projecting rectangulaifillet a. Outside of this latter feature is shown an Obtusely-beveled surface, with an outer tillet, and this is ornamented by two rows ot' dialnonds in angular contact, and intermediate rows of zigzag lines, designated at t t. Outside of this last-described ornamentation is placed the exterior beveled band-molding a', upon and inside and parallel to the projected edge of the door.
Any other name may be employed, and the same Ornamental-elfect produced, by means Oi the same letters or style displayed in the milled field so bordered and molded.
Second. My invention also consists in combining, with the previously-described ornamentation upon the oven-door, the ornamental form ofthe molding placed upon the edge ot' boiler-hole top, the edge of the front hearth, and upon the base, as-shown at B' B B, in detailed letter-reference as to parts at B', being composed of the two beveled band-moldings g and t, the upper beveled band-molding being beveled obtusely to the plane oi' the top, and the lower one acutely to the latter, and upon the inner edges, and Where in parallel application they approach each other a jog and-fiat fillet is formed, as shown at k. Also,
vin further combination with the manner of inclosing the panels A A, formed upon the stove-front beneath the hearth-section, the side fire-door A, the warming-closet door below the reservoir, (shown at A,) as well as the panel formed upon the reservoir designated at A, and upon the side jambs ot the stove beneath the hearth-section at A.
The features of ornamentation employed upon the doors and panels named are designated by letter-reference at A', and consist of the ornamental recessed panel 0, with a capital letter in looped script character displayed in a milled ljeld, as shown at S, with the panel inclosed and recessed by means of the band-molding in bevel at d, and projecting rectangular iillet a.
I am well aware that panels have been formed upon the doors ot' stoves with a milled interior ornamented with a letter and having a molded border, and I make no special claim herein for such ornamentatiomand only consider it a part Ol' my invention when combined with thc peculiar ornamentation shownupon the Oven-door, thus to form an aggregate of several members, and arranged, as shown, to constitute a design t'or a stove.
Having thus described my invention. what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The design for the ornamentation of a stove-door, consisting, in combination, Ot' the trade-naine of the stove displayed in looped tapering and script-letter capitals within and upon the milled and recessed area of the panel inclosed by the inner beveled bandmolding and tillet, the beveled surface ornamented with diamond tigures and zigzag lines, and outer beveled band-molding, as de -scribed and shown at D in the annexed illustration.
2. Ihe design for the ornamentation of a cooking-stove. consisting, in combination, Ot' the ornamentation of the oven-door, the ornamentation of the edge of the boiler-hole top, the edge of the base and hearth, the panels A A A upon the stove front below the hearth, upon the re-door, warming-closet door, and reservoir-section, and upon the sidejambs, beneath the hearth-section, as shown aud described.
