UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE O. BERGSTROM, OF NEENAH, WISCONSIN, ASSIGNOR TO BERG- STROM BROTHERS St CO., OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,835, dated March 28, 1882. Application filed October 15, 1881. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GEORGE 0. BERG* STROM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Neenah, in the oounty of Winnebago and State of Wisconsin, have invented and pr0 duced a new and original Design for Stoves, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
The leading features of my design consist in the form of the legs, the fillet or border around their edges, and the incised and raised figures within the border; in the panelor frame interposed between the legs, and the panel formed on the upper end of the legs, which together resemble a single panel relieved with ornamental incised and raised figures; in the form ofoven-doors, and the broad deep moldings and the ornamental incised and raised figures formed thereon; in the octagonal form ofthe top and bottom, having beveled edges projecting over the respective sides and ends of the stove; in the form of the front door, having incised figures, and arched windows with ornamental borders. and having raised panel, upon which the word Mauitoba is formed in bas-relief; in -the shape of the closet-doors, having broad deep moldings and the raised and incised figures formed thereon; in the shape of the end door of the fuel-box and the ornamental incised figures formed thereon; in the incised border and corner ornaments on the closet, over door; and in the ornamental incised figures at the respective sides of the front door upon the front end of the steve.
A are the legs. B is an oval-shaped panel or frame interposed between the legs. C is the closet. D is the closet-door. E is the oven` door. F is the end door offuel-box. G is the frontdoor. G' are windowsiu front door. His the top and I is the bottom of the stove, formed in two pieces, which are united at the joint between the oven and closet. J is a fillet or border formed on the margin of the legs. The space within the border is relieved with the ornamental incised and raised figures shown in the view at x, which view also shows the outline of the legs.
The panel B and the upper part of the legs, which form in appearance a continuation of said panel, are provided with an ornamental raised border in three styles, as shown at L L, M, and N N, the central portion, M, being enlarged, as shown. The part above the border is provided with incised ornamental lines and figures O, P, and Q.
The panel B, forming the upper part of the legs, has obtuse-augular corners D', conform ing in shape to the top and bottom of the stove. The upper end of the closet-door D has obtuse angular corners and the botton is rectangular, as shown. The 'heavy molding R conforms in shape to that of the door. The center of the door is ornamented with incised figures S, representingaflower,incliued ornamentalfigureT, and corner ornameut U. A head, I', is formed within the deep molding on said closet-door, oven-door, and side door, over the hearth.
The top and bottom of the stove, H and I, have broad beveled edges and obtuse-angular Corners V.
The door F has a broad deep molding, inclosing an incised ornamental figure, a, back of which is a flower, b. W is the molding of the oven-door. The margin and molding at the front end of the oven-door, between its upper and lower sides, are formed by several ob'- tuse angles, S' S' S', and are symmetrically curved beneath the hearth, as shown. Inclosed within said molding W is a raised panel, Y, ornamented in bas-relief. Above and at the left of the panel Yis au ornamental figure, b'. H' H' are the oruamental figures on the front end of the stove. Incised border and corner figures P' P' are formed on the closet C, above the door.
The front door, G, is provided with arched windows, over which are formed ornamental borders A', and beneath the windows the word Manitoba is formed iu bas-relief upon a. raised panel.
I claim- 1. The design for stoves herein described, consisting in form ofthe legs A, having border or filletJ, and relieved with ornamental incised and raised figures within said border, as shown.
2. The oval frame or panel B, interposed between the legs A and the ornamental raised and incised figures O P Q, and the ornamental border L, M, and N.
3. 'The ciosetrdoor D, having ohtuse-an gular corners and moldings at its upper end and ornamental raised and ineised figures S, T, and U, and head I'.
4. The ornamental ineised figures P and P' on the closet. A
5. The oven-door E, having obtuse-anguinr corner& and moldings S' S' S', raised panel Y, ornamented in bas-relief, and head I'.
6. The incised ornamental figures a and b on end door, F, and head I'.
7. The front door.G,haVing arched windows with ornamental border A', and the raised panel formed beneath said Windows.
8. The design for stoves herein described, consisting in the eonfiguration of the arched windows G formed in front door, having ornamentai border.
