DESIGN FOR A FONT OF PRINTING-TYPE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design Application filed July 24,1882.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, CHARLES E. HEYER, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city of Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Font of Printing- Types, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying typographical illustration, forming a part hereof.
First. A set of ornamental printing-types, consisting of capitals, lowercase, figures, and points.
Second. The design is of an extended medium-weight letter, with horizontal and long ceriphs, as a general character.
Third. A swelling or pointing-out at the centers of the curves in the capital letters B C D G J 0 P Q R S U & $5, and in lower-case lettersa b cd e go p qs,andinfigures23568 9 0.
Fourth. The horizontal line of capital letters A E F H runs through the left stroke of the No. 13,290, dated September 12, 1882.
Term of patent 14 years.
letters and terminates with a concave equilateral. The horizontal center lines of capital letters B P R and the diagonal lines of capital letters 0 G S terminate in a scroll with a disk or ball.
Fifth. The flags of capital letters 0 E F G L S T Z and figuresZ 3 5 6 7 9 point out beyond the lines of the letters. The lower-case letters a c f gj r y have, as a flag, an open loop swelled in the center.
Sixth. The marking strokes of thelower-case letters 11 m n n are formed by a double curve, which ends in an opened loop swelled in the center.
I claim- The design for a font of printing-types, as herewith described and illustrated.
