DESIGN FOR AN ALPHABET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,322, dated September 26, 1882. Application filed August 25, 1882. Term of patent B years.
To all 'whom it may concern Be tknown that I, FREDERICK W. MILLER, ot Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have originated and designed a new Design for an Alphabet,ot' which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photographic print, forming part thereof.
The nature of my design for an alphabet is clearly shown in the accompanying photograph, which represents all the letters of my newly-designed alphabet, from A to Z, inclusive. Each letter is composed of one or more cimeter-shaped characters, 2, "more or less curved, and lapped over each other. Thus in the letters A, E, F, H, K, N, and X there are three cimeter-shaped characters crossing each other, as shown. So also in the letter B; but the characters forming the right-hand portion of the said letter are more curved than the up right part ofthe letter at the left. The letter Gis composed of one eimeter-like character, and the letter D of a like character turned in the opposite direction and lapped at one end on the upright character 2.
-The main and leading feature of Iny design consists in the peculiar cimeter-shaped characters bent, crossed, and combined each with the other in the formation of the capital letters shown in the photographic illustration representing my novel-appearing alphabet.
The design differs essentially from all other alphabets heretofore in use, and makes a plain,
sharp letter, each letter being ofthe least possible number of cimeter-shaped characters.
I claim- The design for an alphabet herein shown and described, the same consisting of curved cimeter-shaped characters crossed and arranged each with relation to the other as represented.
In testimony whereof 1 have signed my name to this specitcation in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
FRED. WV. MILLER.
