DESIGN FOR ORNAMENTING CLOTH.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,352, dated July 12, 1881.
Application filed May 13, 1881. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JULIAN E. CAREY, of Plainfield, in the county of Union and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and original Design for the Ornamentation of Cloth, of which the following is a specification.
The aceompanyingdrawin g represents a face View of my design.
The design consists of a series of parallelwaved lines and of short lines parallel to each other, but diagonal in direction to the waved lines, and arranged in double rows. The general effect is of alternate parallel stripes consisting of the waved lines, and of the short broken diagonal lines, as shown in the accompanying drawing.
In the drawing, A represents a piece of cloth ornamented with my new design.
B is a stripe consisting ofa series of paralleh waved lines or furrows, b b, which are sunk into or cut from the face of the cloth.
0 is a. stripe parallel to the stripe B, consisting of short lines or furrows c o, diagonal in direction to the waved lines or furrows b b, but parallel with each other and arranged in double rows, substantially as shown in the accompanying drawing.
I claim-- The design for ornamenting cloth, consisting of the parallel stripes B and (J, the stripe B being composed of waved lines I) b, and the stripe U of diagonal lines 0 0, arranged in rows, substantially as shown.
