JULES LAMBERT, OF NEW YORK, Y., ASSIGNOR TO A. AND H. VEITH, OF SAME PLACE.
FLITTER FOR MILLINERS TRIMMINGS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters PatentNo. 228,363, dated June 1, 1880. Application filed November 21, 1879.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JULES LAMBERT, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented new and Improved Flitters for Milliners Trimmings, of which the following is a specification. v
Figure 1 represents a side view of a feather with flitters attached. Fig.2is a front elevation of the improved flitter. Fig. 3 is a front elevation of the improved flitter with a head attached. Fig. el is an edge elevation of the same on line a- 00, Fig. 3. Fig. 5 1s a front elevation of another improved fiitter.

This invention relates to that class of articles that are used for ornamenting feathers, dress-trimmings, and the like.
The tlitter in common use cannot be made use of as a medium for attaching other ornaments to feathers, 85c. and the objectof this invention is to make a flitter that shall itself he ornamental, and serve also to attach other ornaments, such as beads, bugles, &c., to feathers and other articles of dress.
in the drawings, Arepresents the improved flitter with lobe a and stem 1), upon which stem may be placed a head, a, or the like.
The improved flitter may have one or more lobes or pendants attached to the stem. The flitter shown in Fig. 5 has three lobes or pendants, a a, and the said lobes or pendants may be of any desired shape.
The fiitters are attached to feathers 0, Fig. 1, or other articles, by glue or paste of some kind, and are usually made (stamped out) from some very thin and somewhat elastic sheets of hard rubber, gelatine, or other suitable. material that is inexpensive and of light weight.
By their long stems these improved flitters are more readily attached to feathers than are those of the old style, and it is seen that they can be used for the purpose of appending other ornaments.
I am aware that beads or bugles have been strung upon the small ends of the feathers to which fiitters have been attached; but
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- 1. As an improved article of manufacture, the herein-described flitter A, consisting of the lobe or lobes a and stem 2), the stem being an integral part of the lobe, substantially as and for the purpose setforth.
2. The flitter A, composed of stem 1) and lobe a, in combination with the head 0, substantially as and for the purpose described.
JULES LAMBERT.
