SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,009, dated April 9, 1889.

Ile it known that I, JAMES L. FOLSOM, a citizen of the United States, residing in Brooklyn, county of Kings, State of New York, have 5 invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the followingisa specification, reference being had to the aceompanyin g photograph, which forms a part of the same.

The invention relates to a design to be To worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in thenovel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.

The accompanying photograph is a face 15 view of a carpet showing my new design.

My design contains a large irregular curved stem-work. Branches, mainly scroll-shaped, project therefrom, and various ornamental figures and conventionalized flower and leaf forms are attached to or constitute these 20 branches. Small inclosed portions contain damask-work of various kinds.
