ATTOHNEX WITNESSES 1n: NORRIS PETERS UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
AUTOMATICALLY-CLOSING FILE-CASE.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES F. Fooo, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Automatically-Closing F ile-Cases, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
My invention relates especially to bill files, and has for its object the provision'of a. holder for bills adapted to entirely conceal the same from view, and wherein means are provided for automatically shutting the file-inclosing case after being opened.
To attain the desired end, my invention consists in certain novel and useful combinations or arrangements of parts and peculiarities of construction and operation, all of which will be hereinafter first fully described, and then pointed out in the claim.
In the drawing, Figure 1 is a perspective View of my file case. Fig. 2 is a front elevation with the cover raised. Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view at line aa of Fig. 2.
Like numerals of reference, wherever they occur, indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
l is a. base made of any approved material, 2 is a perforation therein for the reception of a supporting nail, or the equivalent.
3 is a partition below the perforation 2.
4 is a spring clip secured at 5 to the base 1.
Specification of Letters Patent.
- Application filed November 4, 1907.
Patented Sept. 6, 1910.
Serial No. 400,466.
6 is a bottom piece projecting horizontally from the base, and having lips 7 at the front thereof.
11 are side pieces projecting from the base 1.
8 is a front or cover hinged to the base at 9, and having at its lower edge a manipulating finger-piece 10.
In use, the file case is suspended in any convenient position. When it is desired to place a bill therein, the cover is raised up, the bill inserted back of the clip 4, and when the cover is released, it is closed and the catch operated by gravity, so as to conceal the bill entirely from view.
Having now fully described my invention, what I claim as new therein, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
An automatically closing bill file in which is comprised a base having a perforation for the reception of a supporting device; a partition carried by said base below the perforation therein; a spring clip secured to the base; a bottom and side pieces projecting from the base, and a cover hinged to the top of the base and arranged to automatically close after being raised, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I hereto afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
CHARLES F. FOGG.
