Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ANDREW GALLI, a citi- Zen of the United States, residing at Peoria, in the. county of Peoria and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in suspending Holders for Paper Bags, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in suspending holders for paper, paper bags, etc. and consists in certain features of con struction and in combination of parts here inafter described and pointed out in the claims.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a View in perspective showing my device combined in a relation to hold the paper, paper bags, etc.; Fig. 2 is a top view with one of the side frame pieces removed; Fig. 3 is a detail view of one of the side frame parts; Fig. 4 is a front elevation showing the device with the side frame part illustrated in Fig. 3 removed; Fig. 5 is a side view of the device.

The body of the device is formed of the top frame piece A provided with the eye a, and the pin projection a.

B is a side frame piece fixed in connection with frame piece A.

C is a detachable side frame piece provided with the perforation 0 therethrough, adapted to receive the pin a when it is applied, as shown in Fig. 1.

D is a pin secured in frame piece B in any suitable manner, but is preferably made formed with threads upon the end adapted to be screwed into the frame piece. The said pin is tapered to a point at its other end so as to easily penetrate the material of the paper bags, etc. adapted to be carried thereon.

cl is a perforation in the lower portion of the body of the frame piece 0 and is adapted to receive the pointed end of pin D to form a shield and a support therefor and when frame piece C is applied, as shown in Fig. 1, the point of the pin is adapted to fit therein in substantially close relation.

E is a metal binding strip adapted to be attached to frame pieces A and B and a similar metal strip F is provided on the opposite side, serving the same purpose. The binding strip E projects beyond the end of frame piece A as at e and is curved outwardly at its extremity and is provided with a perforation g therethrough. The binding strip F also projects some distance beyond frame piece A as at f. The side frame piece C is adapted to be applied to the structure in the manner shown in Fig. 1 and to facilitate its ready application, the portion 6 of the binding strip E is of material to render the same slightly flexible so that it may be sprung outwardly to provide space for side frame piece C to enter between the extensions e and f of the binding strips and when so applied, the pin a enters the perforation 0, and perforation g is adapted to engage the pin it on the side of the side frame piece C which will hold the frame piece C in firm locked position with the pointed end of pin D entering perforation (Z in frame piece G.

hen it is desired to place paper bags or other materials on the holder, the side frame piece C is removed by simply engaging the side frame piece C with the fingers at the points indicated at H H and by pressing outwardly with the thumb upon the portion 6 of the binding strip IE, it will be sprung outwardly sufficient to release pin it and may be then detached, and the paper bags or other materials may then be placed upon pin D and then the side frame piece O replaced, the parts assuming the positions shown in Fig. l.

I have made provision also for a proper suspension for the paper bag holder in the form of the hooked rod I which is adapted to engage the eye a in the manner shown in Fig. l, and the upper end of the rod may be provided with an eye or other means for hanging it upon a nail or otherwise securing it in proper position.

The structure presented in this application is very simple, handy and very serviceable for the purpose, as it will appear that when the paper bags are secured within the holder, it may be subjected to all sorts of rough usage, for instance, its falling from its support, without danger of dismemberment or of the paper bags or other materials held therein being detached from the holder, Furthermore, the penetrating point of the pin is always protected against being bent or dulled, and the frame piece C is so readily attached and detached as to make the complete device a very serviceable one.

I have shown one form of application, but

obviously, it may be differently constructed and formed without departing from the principle of my invention.

That I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. In suspending bag holders for paper bags, etc., in combination, a framework, an impaling pin suitably secured to an arm of the framework and extending in parallel relation with an other arm thereof, the arm of the framework in parallel relation with the impaling pin being provided at its outer end with a pin projection, a detachable frame piece provided with perforations in one face, one adapted to receive the pin projection from the framework and the other to receive the point of the impaling pin, means for interlocking the detachable frame piece with the main framework comprising a flexible plate upon the main framework provided with a perforation and a stud on the detachable frame piece ada ted to be engaged by the perforation in the i exible plate, and suitable means for holding the complete frame in suspension for the purpose described.

2. In a device of the class described, the combination with a frame part comprising a top frame piece provided with a pin extending from one end thereof and a depending side frame piece fixed thereto and provided with a pin secured therein extending in parallel relation with the top frame piece, binding strips securing the top and side frame pieces together and extending outwardly beyond the end of the top frame piece and one of said extensions having a slight outward turn at its extreme end and also with a perforation through the body thereof, a detachable side frame piece provided with a perforation therethrough adapted to be carried upon the pin projection from the top frame piece, also with a perforation to receive the point of the pin, and with a stud or pin on the side thereof adapted to be engaged by the perforation in the extension from the binding strip, and an eye in the top f'ame piece adapted to be engaged by a hooked support.
