PATENT HENRY RUNTZ, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
DISPLAY-HOLDER FOR NECKTIES.
DPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 705,149, dated July 22, 1902. Application filed February '7, 1902. Serial N0. ,93,040. (No model) To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY RUNTZ, of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illi-' nois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display-Holders for Neckties, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference in the different figures indicate like parts.
My invention relates to display-holders for neckties; and my objectis to provide a simple, cheap, and efficient device of this character adapted for use in connection with ties having the usual metal fastening device for detachably securing them to the collar-button, all of which is hereinafter specifically described and definitely claimed.
In the drawings, Figure l is a front perspective view ofa necktie-holder embodying the features of my invention. Fig. 2 is a direct front view thereof. Fig. 3 is a perspective View thereof as seen from the rear. Fig. 3 is a side view of said holder, showing the manner of supporting a necktie therein, the tie and box or card to which the support is fastened being shown in section; and Fig. 4: is a rear view thereof, showing the supported tie in position.
Referring to the drawings, a represents my improved necktie-ho1der,which is made from a single piece or strip of sheet metal having a base I), which is cut in such a Way as to form prongs c, bent downwardly therefrom and adapted to pass through and be clenched upon the under side of a supporting card or box (1. Said metal strip is then bent upwardly at an angle to the base I), so as to form 'VVhile the upturned lip g is by no means es sential in my device, I prefer to use it. The necktie 71, which-the holder is intended to support, is provided upon its back with a fastening device usually in the form of a bent wire 2'. Upon inserting said fastener between the parts fg a slight spring-pressure is exertedby said parts upon said fastener, which serves to hold the tie in position to display the front thereof to the best advan* tage, while allowing it to be readily removed and replaced.
Having thus described my invention, I claim- The combination with a common support of a plurality of tie-holding devices, each consisting of a sheet metal element having a base I), permanently attached to said support, a rigid rearwardly-inclined body portion 6, and the parts f, g, bent downwardly and upwardly respectively in substantially parallel planes, whereby the space between the two may serve to engage the fastener of a necktie substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses, this 3d dayof February, 1902.
HENRY RUNTZ.
