N .APKIN HOLDER AND SUPPORTER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 12, 1909.
Application filed March 12, 1907. Serial No. 362,056.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ELLSWORTH C. RINK,
a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Napkin Holders and Supporters, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates generally to napkin holders and supporters, and more particularly to certain improvements which I have made to the holder and supporter shown and described in my patent dated April 23, 1907, No. 851,107.
The object of my present invention is to provide a device which will be neater in appearance, simpler in construction, and consequently cheaper to make; and with this object in view my invention consists in the novel features of construction hereinafter fully described and pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawings forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a View showing the practical application of my invention, and, Fig. 2, is a detail perspective view of the device.
I11 constructing a napkin holder and supportin accordance with my improved idea, I employ a single piece of wire, which is bent in the form of a harp or bow, as shown, the ends A, being curved rearwardly to fit upon the shoulders, as shown in Fig. 1.
At the lower end of the bow or harp the wires are bent forwardly in parallel relation as shown at B, and then upwardly as shown at C, thereby providing an upwardly projecting hook at the center of the bow or harp which serves to support the napkin, when not in use, and after it has been rolled or folded so it can be conveniently inserted in the hook G. The side members D are substantially parallel, and just before they curve rearwardly they are each bent downwardly upon themselves, as shown at E and then upwardly as shown at F, said bend F being pressed in close to the member D so as to form a clip for the purpose of holding the upper edge of the napkin between said bend and member, it being understood that the bends A are placed upon the shoulders and the device resting upon the chest of the user.
The napkin can be inserted either before or after the device is arranged upon the body, and when once in place will be held in front of the body in the proper position, and when through with the napkin the lower end is rolled up or folded and inserted in the supporting hook C, and the device as a Whole can then be removed from the body.
Having thus described my invention what I claim is A device of the kind described comprising a single piece of wire bent in the form of a bow, the free end portions being curved to fit the shoulders, the bow portion being centrally bent inward to form an upwardly projecting hook, the side members of the bow being bent downwardly and thence upwardly to form clips.
In testimony whereof I aflEiX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
