HENRY RUNTZ, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
DISPLAY-HOLDER Fo'a N EC'KTlES. Y r
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No.;7o'1,'94'2 dated June 10,1902.
Application filed February 7, 1902. Serial No. 93 ,039. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY RUNTZ, of Ohicago, in the county of Cook andfStateofIlli- 1101s, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display-Holders for N eck ties, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact descriptiomrefercnce being had to the accompanying drawings, formingla part of reference in the different figures indicate like parts.
The object of my invention is toprovidea necktie display-holder adapted for the display of that style of tie which is intended to be detachably secured to the collar-button by means a bent-wire fastener.
To this end my invention consists in the combination of elements hereinafter more particularly described and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a portion of a box, showing my improved holders attached thereto, a tie being mounted-upon one to illustrate the manner in which it'is' supported. Fig. 1" is a rear view of a necktie, showing th 3 fastener there on to which my improvement is applicable. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of my improved holder. Fig. 3 is a rear view thereof, showing it fastened to the bottom of a box. Fig. 4 is a side view thereof. Fig. 5 is a central vertical sectional view of a modified construction. Fig.6 is a front view, Fig. 7 a front perspective View, and Fig. 8 a rear perspec tive View, showing modifications of said invention.
Referring to the drawings, a represents a box or display-card of pasteboard to which my improved holders b are attached, as hereinafter described, said holders being preferably arranged in rows at such distances from each other as to properly display the ties thereon. 4
My improved holder is formed from sheet metal and is provided with a flat base 0, hav: ing prongs d, which latter are passed through the bottom of the box or display-card in the; manner indicated in dotted lines at the right hand in Fig. 1, after which they areclenched'," as shown in Figs. 3and 4. The body or standard e is inclined at an angle to the base, substantially as shown, and consists of a flat hollow structure formed by bending the metal scribed. a holder having a fiat base and-a tapered inupon itself, the portions ffbeing substantially parallel with the part g, with a narrow space between them, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3 and indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 4, said space being such as to receive and hold there in, preferably with a slight spring-tension, the bent-wire fastening device h, which is seand an upwardly-inclined part is, adapted to beinserted between the walls at the lower end of a fiat removable support Z, formed like the body e of the partllirst above do- In Fig. 6 is'shown a aback view of clined body wt, having flanges n upon the back and turned toward each other, but leaving a considerable space'between them. Fig. 7 shows a somewhat similar construction,hav-
ing thejbody rounded" at the top,and flanges 0 0 bent over upon the front to receive and clamp the part h of the tie. In Fig.8 I have shown a construction in which the metal is folded from opposite edgesupon itself in both base and body, the fastening-prongs 13 being out out from the overlapping portion, as shown at q q. If desired, the body e may be braced in its inclined position by cptting out triangular portions from the inturned parts f, as indi* catedin dotted lines at r, Fig. 3, and bend ing'them in the position shown in Fig. 4.
-Having thus'described my invention, I
claim- 7 g 1. A necktie display-holder in which is combined a common support, a'pl'urality of sheet 'rnetal standards each having a fiat base, means for. permanently securing the .same to said j common support, each of said standards con-' sisting of a'flat upwardly-projecting body portion integral with'and inclined at an oblique angle to said base, said body having flanges or wings bent laterally from opposite cured tothe backjof the tie i,-as shownin Fig.
sides or edges toward each other and folded substantially parallel to the inclined portion from which they are bent whereby an opening, oblong in cross-section may be formed between said parallel portions for the reception of the article to be supported thereby.
2. As an improved article of manufacture, a necktie display-holder formed from sheet metal, said holder having a base, an upwardly-extended body bent at an oblique angle thereto, said body being provided with a socket at its upper end oblong in cross-section, formed by the lateral bending of the metal from opposite edges thereof upon itself.
3. In a necktie display-holder, the combination with a main support such as a card or box, of a sheet-metal standard having a lat base, means for permanently attaching said base to said support, said standard consisting of a flat body portion bent upwardly from one end of and inclined at an oblique angle to said base, provided with wings or flanges bent from opposite edges toward each other and braces interposed between said inclined body and base, said braces being formed from said inturned wings, substantially as and for the purposes specified.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses, this 3d day of February, 1902. 30
HENRY RUNTZ. Witnesses:
