PATENT OFFICE.
EDWIN A. GUINZBURG, OF NEWV YORK, N. .Y.
GARMENT-SUPPORTER- SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent NO. 788,259, dated April 25, 1905.
Application filed January 6, 1905. Serial No. 239,870-
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, EDWIN A. GUINZBURG, acitizen of the United States, and a resident of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garment-Supporters, of which the following is a specification. I
My invention relates to new and useful improvements in garment-supporters, and more particularly to means for holding childrens diapers; and it consists in the novel construction and combination of parts herein shown and described, and further pointed out in the claims.
In the drawings forming a part of this application, Figure 1 is aperspective view of the supporter from the front thereof. Fig. 2 is a rear view thereof. Fig. 3 is an elevation of the back of the supporter with the elastic carrying-tab removed. Fig. 4 is a like view of the front of the supporter, and Fig. 5 is a modified form of tab for the front.
Referring to Figs. 1 to 4: of the drawings, it will be seen that my improved supporter consists primarily of a suspender or yoke 1, which engages with and is supported by the shoulders of the wearer and to which are secured front and rear tabs for holding up the The suspender is separated at the back, and is adapted to be held together by buttonholes 2 and 3. To the lower ends 7 7 of the rear of the suspender is secured an elastic tab 4 by means of a plurality of buttons 5, which engage with buttonholes 6 in the ends 7, which are arranged at points separated from the vertical line of the suspender. The tab 4: is thereby detachably secured to the separate ends 7 of the suspender: This arrangement equally disperses the stress on the suspender and tends to hold the ends 7 from separating and from becoming unbuttoned. This tab 4, which has the elastic portion 8 and inelastic portion 8, to which the buttons 5 are secured, is provided at its lower end with a safety-pin 9, which has novel features. Instead of securing one of the rods of the pin directly in the hem of the elastic I provide a secondary rod 10, secured to the rod 11 of the pin, (and which may be made integral therewith,) and by being made equal to the width of the tab prevents the pin from shifting on the latter. The tab to hold the front of the diaper isshown at 12, and preferably detachably secured to the front end 16 of the suspender by means of buttons 13, carried by the tab 12 and engage buttonholes 17, formed in the end 16, which buttonholes and buttons are arranged away from the central line of the suspender similar to the rear tab. This tab may be also provided with a safety-pin similar to theme on the rear tab.
In Fig. 5 is shown a modified form of a front tab 14, in which the same is made continuous with the front 16 of the suspender and is folded upon itself and buttoned at 15, thus forminga detachable loop for the safetypln.
Having described my invention, what I claim 1. A garment-supporter comprising a suit-' able suspender, having a vertical separation and ends 7 adapted to be held together by suitable buttons, buttonholes 6 in said ends, and an elastic tab, secured to each of the ends 7 by means of buttons 5, arranged away from the vertical line of the said suspender, whereby the ends 7 and the tab 4 are secured together.
2. A garment-supporter comprising a suspender having front and rear depending portions, the rear portion being vertically divided and provided on each side of the division with fastening means. an elastic tab removably secured to each of said depending portions, the attaching means for the tab connected to the said rear portion being located on opposite sides of the said division, the lower ends of each of said tabs being provided with means for attachment thereof to the garment to be supported.
Signed this 4th day of January, 1905.
EDWIN A. GUINZBURG.
