PATENT OEEICE.
GARMENT-SUPPORTER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N o. 756,237, dated April 5, 1904.
Application filed December 28,
T0 all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, WILLIAM S. HUNKINs, a citizen of the United States, residing at'Merriam Park, county of Ramsey, State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garment-Supporters, of which waist may be worn in the usual nway to cover the upper portion of said garment-supporter, which waist will be properly held in place by the coaction of certain tion hereinafter described.
In the drawings, FigureV l is a perspective View of my invention. Fig. 2 is an elevation of a detail.
Fig. 4 1s partly an elevation and partly a section of a detail of construction. Fig. 5 is a side elevation of amodilied detail of construction.
In the drawings, lA A are Suspenders or straps adapted togo over the shoulders of the wearer.
B is a band to which tached, if desired, by means of buttons D, secured to the inside-of said band. The buttons D may be provided with studs E on the-oppositeside of said band, said studs being de signed to receive a buttonhole-loop F, carried by the nether garment G.
The garment-supporter when adjusted in place assumes the position approximately shown in Fig." l. rIhe nether garment G is secured to the band B by securing the buttonhole-loop F to the proper stud E. Before the nether garment is attached, however, the shirt-waist or shirt portion of the shirt-waist adjacent to the stud may be grasped by the buttonhole'F, so that it will be held between it and said stud, the loop F-performing the double function of securing the 'nether -garment G to the band B and also securing the lower portion of the shirt-waist in place. The shirt-waist is not hole-loop may be made of metal, as shown in Fig. 2, and, if desirable, the upper parts of the construc- Fig. 3 is a cross-section of fragmentary portions.

shown in the drawings for obvious reasons and because the method of application is clear from 'the foregoing description. The shirtwaist renders the supporter invisible.
When it is desired, the Suspenders may be secured to the band B-for example, as shown in Fig. 3, in which Aone end of thev strap A is shown as riveted to the band B. The buttonsubstantially end of said loop may be extended into the form of a hook, as shown in Fig. 5, in which F -is the bill of the hook, the same being adapted to hold a belt H in What I claim is l. As an articlegof manufacture, a garmentsupporter comprising shoulder-straps, a band place around the waist.
attached to the ends thereof, means of connec- Q tion on the outside of said band adjacent to the ends of said shoulder-straps, and a loop adapted lto coact therewith said loop being adapted to with said loop.
2. As an article of manufacture, a garmentsupportercomprising shoulder-straps, a band to the ends thereof, means of connection on the outside of said band adjacent to the ends of said shoulder-straps, and a loop adapted to coact therewith said loop being adapted to be attached to the nether garment, and a hook constituting a belt-retainer formed integral with said loop.
3. As an article of manufacture, a garmentsupporter comprising shoulder-straps, a band permanently attached to the ends thereof, outwardly-projecting studs comprising means of connection on vthe outside of said band at the ends of said shoulder-straps whereby vertical strains are directly taken up by said straps without buckling the belt, and a series of loops adapted lto coact therewith, said loops being adapted .to be detachably attached to anether garment. Y
4. A garment-supporter comprising a band adapted to the waist ofa wearer, suspenderstraps for extending over the shoulders of the wearer and connected to the band in the front and in the rear, outwardly-projecting studs at each junction with said suspender-straps con- Abe attached to the nether garment, and a hook v vconstituting a belt-retainer formed integrally IOO stitutng one set of fastening devices whereby slots being suilieently greater than the dam- IO downward strains on said studs are taken dieter of the shank of said stud to receive the reet-ly by said straps and lateral displacementfabric of a garment between said stud and loop. of said studs is prevented by said band and a Signed at New York, N.
