Description
Patented March 21, 1905.
PATENT OFFICE.
ADOLPH H. (JOHN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
HOSE-SUPPORTER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. I`r'85,199,dated March 21, 1905.
Application filed October 24, 1903. Serial No. 178,364. y
To afl/Z wlw/0771, it may con/cern:
Be it known that I, ADoLPH H. CoHN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, county and State of Newfork, have invented a new and Improved Hose-Supporter, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to hose-supporters; and it consists of certain novel parts and combinations of parts particularly pointed out in the claims concluding this specification.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 illustrates a supporter involving my present invention. Figs. 2, 3, and 4 show modified forms of the same.
, The following is a description of the hosesupporters shown in the drawings, which illustrate forms in which I at present prefer to embody my invention; but it may be understood that various modifications and changes may be made in the details of the same without departing from the spirit yof my invention and without exceeding the scope of the concluding claims.
Referring to Fig. 1, 1 is a belt or tape passing around the waist of the wearer.
2 2*"*vare a series of double eyelets or buttonholes placed at or near both ends of the belt or tape. Herein are shown eyelets; but it is to be understood that any kind of an aperture permitting the passage of a stud, button, or pin therethrough may be used.
4 is a pad of a form well known in the art, which at its upper end is provided with a pin 3. Its lower end has attached thereto the supporting-tapes 5 5 5 5 and clasps 6 6 6 6. I In the operation of this device the belt or tape is placed around the waist ofthe wearer. A set of eyelets or buttonholes in one end of the belt or tape is then placed over a set of eyelets or buttonholes in the opposite end. rlhrough these two sets the pin 3 is inserted and secured. The ad will then hang down from the waist, an the supporters may be secured to the stockings. By having a number of the eyelets or buttonholes in the belt it may be adjusted to fit a waist of any size. The modification of Fig. 2 shows the belt and at the desired length an eyelet or buttonhole 2 is placed over the stud 3a, thus securing the belt. By means of the loop 3b,
placed over the stud 3, the pad 4, with its pa es and fasteners, is suspended from the Fig.` 3 illustrates a modification wherein a series of single eyelets or buttonholes are arranged in both ends of the belt or tape. The pad 4 at its upper end has fastened to it the stud 3EL and the loop 3b. The belt or tape is arranged at the proper length about the waist and an eyelet or buttonhole in each end brought together. The stud 3a is then assed through the two buttonholes or eyeets, the loop 3b placed over the stud, and the pad in this manner is suspended from the belt.
In the modification of Fig. 4 the belt or tape has no apertures therein. The pad 4 has secured to its up er portion a clasp-pin 3C. The two ends of the belt may in this form be brought together at the desired length and the pin thrust through both parts and secured. v
With any of the forms of devices embodying my invention the belt may be arranged to fit Wearers having either large or small waists. It is impossible for the pad to become displaced by shifting on the belt, as it is firmly held by the device in the position to which it is set on the belt.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In a hose-supporter the combination of a belt, means for Joining the ends of said belt together at any desired girth and hose-supporting tapes, said ta es being supported by the means by which t e ends of said belt are joined together.
2. In a hose-supporter in combination a belt, a hanger-piece with supporting tapes attached thereto and means whereby the ends of said belt are adjustably joined to IOO gether at the point of engagement of said hanger-piece with said belt.
3. In a hose-supporter the combination of a belt, a pad having hose-supporting-tapes attached thereto and means whereby the ends of said belt are joined together at an desired girth by means carried by said pa 4. In a hose-supporter the combination of a belt, a ad to which is attached a hangerpieee an su porting-tapes, and means for attaching sai hanger-piece to the belt at the point where the ends thereof are adjustably joined together.
5. In a hose-supporter in combination a belt, a pad having hose-supporting tapes attached thereto, said belt having a series of apertures therein and means carried by said pad whereby the ends of said belt are adjustably joined together.
6. In a hose-supporter in combination a belt, a hanger-piece with supporting-tapes attached thereto, said belt hav-ing a series of apertures therein and means carried by said hangerieee engaging with said apertures to secure t e belt at any desired girth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ADOLPH H. COHN.
