Description
本案與2011年4月14日提申之美國專利暫時申請案第61/475,639號、2012年3月18日提申的美國專利暫時申請案第61/612,390號、及2012年3月19日提申的美國暫時申請案第61/612,949號有關,這些申請案的揭示內容藉此參照被併於本文中。
本發明大體上係有關於保護敏感物免於傷害及/或提供一種摸起來很舒服的外表面。
目前存在許多用於通信、娛樂及其它目的的不同種類的電子裝置。這些電子裝置包括手機、MP3播放器、視訊播放器、智慧型手機、通信裝置,譬如對講機、導航裝置,譬如GPS裝置、及其類型的電子裝置,譬如各式電腦,其包括膝上型電腦、手持式電腦、超薄行動電腦及平板電腦。這些裝置通常包括觸控螢幕、互動式平板,其包括但不侷限於電容耦合式界面、鍵盤、滾輪、傾斜開關、按鈕式開關、及其它互動式控制。因為這些電子裝置的敏感性本質,提供用於這些裝置的保護是所想要。
揭露於一實施例中的是一種用於電子裝置的保護殼,其包含一蓋子,其順從該電子裝置的一部分並與之嚙合,該蓋子具有一背部及一連接至該背部的側壁,該蓋子包含互連的支撐件,其由多個設置在預定區域中之接受孔所界定,該蓋子包含一預定厚度的彈性體材料;及一緩衝插入件,其包含突起的衝擊區,其被設置成緊鄰第一下凹的衝擊區,該等突起的衝擊區被設置在對應於該等多個接受孔的預定區域中且具有一大於該蓋子的厚度之預定的厚度。當該保護殼被組裝在該電子裝置上時,該等多個互連的支撐件與該等第一下凹的衝擊區嚙合,使得該蓋子讓該緩衝插入件順從該電子裝置,且該等突起的衝擊區與該等接受孔嚙合,使得該等突起的衝擊區延伸至該蓋子的外表面上方。該保護殼亦可包括一或多個第二下凹的衝擊區,其中該等第二下凹的衝擊區的厚度小於該等第一下凹的衝擊區的厚度。
揭露於另一實施例中的是一種用於電子裝置的保護殼,其包含一具有一背部及一連接至該背部的側壁的蓋子,其與該電子裝置嚙合,該蓋子包含一材料其順從該電子裝置的一部分,該蓋子具有一預定的厚度;及一緩衝插入件其包含一與應變率有關的材料(rate dependent material),使得當該緩衝插入件被設置在該蓋子內時,該蓋子使該緩衝插入件順從該電子裝置。該蓋子更可包含由多個設置在預定的區域中的接受孔所界定之互連的支撐件。該緩衝插入件更可包含突起的衝擊區,其被設置成緊鄰第一下凹的

揭露於另一實施例中的是一種保護殼,其包含一蓋子,其順從該電子裝置的一部分並與之嚙合,該蓋子具有一背部及一連接至該背部的側壁,該蓋子包含互連的支撐件,其由多個設置在預定區域中之接受孔所界定,該蓋子包含一預定厚度的彈性體材料,該彈性體材料具有一在約80蕭氏硬度A至約100蕭氏硬度A的硬度範圍;及一多層式緩衝插入件,其包含被設置成緊鄰第一下凹的衝擊區的突起的衝擊區,該等突起的衝擊區被設置在對應於該等多個接受孔的預定區域內且具有一大於該蓋子的厚度的預定厚度,該緩衝插入件包含一多層式連續地結合的材料,其包含一與應變率有關的發泡體,其被設置在熱塑性彈性體材料(TPE)的相對立的層之間,及一補強層其被設置在該與應變率有關的發泡體層與該等TPE層的一者之間;一或多個第二下凹的衝擊區,其具有一小於該第一下凹的衝擊區的厚度的厚度。當該保護殼被組裝在該電子裝置上時,該等多個互連的支撐件與該等第一下凹的衝擊區嚙合,使得該蓋子讓該緩衝插入件順從該電子裝置,且該等突起的衝擊區與該等接受孔嚙合,使得該等突起的衝擊區延
伸至該蓋子的外表面上方。
此發明內容係以簡化的形式提供本發明的概念的一個選擇,本發明的概念在下面的實施方式中被進一步描述。此發明內容並不是要指明本案所請之發明的關鍵特徵或主要特徵,也不是要用來侷限本案所請發明的範圍。
本發明係有關於被設計來保護敏感的物件免於受傷害之防護性的衝擊吸收與緩衝結構。本發明的結構可順從該待保護等敏感物件的角落,並提供一摸起來很舒服的外表面。在一些實施例中,本發明的結構包括各式形狀、大小、組態及厚度之突起來的及下凹的衝擊區。各式材料可被用於該等突起來的衝擊區,這將於下文中描述。
本發明之改善的保護殼包含互連但分開的內及外殼部件,其實質地順從該待保護物件的外表面。該保護殼可被設計成具有特定的功能性的特徵結構,譬如在保護殼邊緣及角落上的目的性衝擊保護。藉由結合該等突起的及下凹的衝擊區的特定的形狀、大小、組態、輪廓及方位,該保護殼可被設計成適用於除了上文提到的物品之外之任何類型之需要保護的產品。
例如,本發明的保護殼可被設計成對應於一電子裝置(譬如,膝上型電腦或平板裝置)的形狀及大小的護套或罩殼,使得它們緊貼地套合,但亦伸展並順從該罩殼的外部。因此,該保護殼可被形成為將順從該被包覆的物品的外
表面的至少一部分的形狀。描述於本文中的保護殼亦可被設計成用於行李箱、運動防護裝備,及類此者。
此等保護殼可提供質輕且可撓曲的防衝擊保護,且可以比其它保護殼在美學上更怡人、更耐用及成本更低。為了便於討論,當“可撓曲的”一詞使用於本文中時其係指該墊子被彎折、扭轉、屈曲及/或拉伸,及類此者而移動的能力。本發明的保護殼的構造是堅固的、耐用的、且能夠承受工業上及/或商業上清洗時所使用的溫度、清潔劑及機械動作,不像其它保護殼在此等嚴苛的條件下會受損。
圖1-13一起被參考時係顯示本發明的一示範性實施例,其係有關於一種用於電子裝置(未示出)(譬如一媒體裝置或手機)的保護殼10。雖然在本文中係參考一用於電子裝置的保護殼來描述,但如上文中提到的,該保護殼可適用於任何需要保護的物品,或被設計來提供保護的產品。殼10在圖1中係以組裝好的組態被示出,及在圖2中以分開的組態被示出。如圖所示,殼10包含一蓋子12及一緩衝插入件30,它們在被組裝時係互連的,如圖1所示,否則的話係彼此分開的,係如圖2所示。在此實施例中,蓋子12是單一個的部件,但如果想要的話,它亦可被形成為可被組裝在該電子裝置的表面上之兩個或更多個可分開的但互鎖的部件。相類似地,該緩衝插入件30可包含可被插入到該蓋子12內的兩個或更多個部件。
蓋子12可被建構來順從(conform to)該緩衝插入件30
的至少一部分的外表面。蓋子12包含一背區段14、一側壁16其由該背區段14向上延伸、及一表框18其由該側壁16向內延伸以界定一前開口20。該背區段14、側壁16及前表框18的每一者都分別包含相對的內表面14a,16a,18a及外表面14b,16b,18b。
該背區段14及該側壁16的一者或兩者包含多個接受孔22,其由該內表面14a,16a延伸至至外表面14b,16b以界定多個設置在該等接受孔22之間的互連的支撐件24。
該蓋子12亦包含一或多個功能性孔26,其在形狀、大小及位置上係對應於可被包括在該電子裝置上的各式功能性按鍵、埠口、裝置或其它物件(皆未被示於圖中)的形狀、大小及位置,用以讓這些物件不會被遮擋住。這些功能性按鍵的例子包括但不侷限於充電埠、揚聲器、輔助埠、電源按鍵、相機鏡頭、等等。
蓋子12亦包含一或多個突起的按鍵28,其在形狀、大小及位置上係對應於較小的功能性按鍵或埠口(亦未被示於圖中)的形狀、大小及位置,這些功能性按鍵或埠口的操作因為該保護殼的厚度而受到限制,用以允許使用者保有功能性的操作且無需將該保護殼從該電子裝置上取下。這些較小的功能性按鍵包括但不侷限於電源及音量按鍵。
蓋子12可用實質硬質的、半硬質的及/或可撓曲的材料來製造,且具有和手機相對應的大小的形態,且在該蓋
子的內表面與手機的外表面之間有足夠的空間來讓該緩衝插入件被設置在該空間內。在此實施例中,蓋子12是單一個的,且包含彈性體材料,其可撓曲且能夠充份地撐開以容許該電子裝置被輕易滑入該殼10及從該殼10中取出。蓋子12具有足夠的彈性來撐開於該電子裝置上並復原,使得該蓋子可服貼地配適(fit)在該緩衝插入件及該電子裝置上,使得該殼10順從該電子裝置。該蓋子12可用各式熱固性材料來製造,譬如合成橡膠、矽、氨基甲酸乙酯,及其它能夠充份地撐開以允許電子裝置滑入到該蓋子12的前開口20同時保持該蓋子12的配適形體(form-fitting)形狀的材料來製造。該蓋子12的密度及彈性以及該蓋子12用來配適電子裝置的形狀的預形體讓該蓋子12的材料能夠兼具撐開及復原,使得該緩衝蓋子緊密地配製在該電子裝置上。當是硬質或半硬質時,該蓋子12包含兩個或更多個可被組裝在該手機的正面及背面上之可分開但互鎖的部件是較佳的。蓋子12可使用各種在此領域中為習知之適合處理前述材料的技術及製程來形成。
在此實施例中,蓋子12具有一預定的厚度T1,其被選擇用以小於該緩衝插入件之最厚的區段的厚度T2,這將於下文中描述。在此實施例中,厚度T1的範圍在約0.050英吋至約0.090英吋之間,較佳地在約0.060英吋至約0.080英吋之間,更佳地為約0.075英吋。
圖4及13更詳細地例示該緩衝插入件30。該緩衝插入件30可被建構成順從它將包覆的物件(在此例子中為手
機)的外表面的至少一部分。該緩衝插入件30可用多種材料來形成,使得它具有與該蓋子的內表面的一部分及該手機的外表面的一部分相對應的大小及形態,及一可容許它嵌設在該蓋子的內表面與該手機的外表面之間的厚度,用以讓它嵌設在它們之間。
在此示範性的實施例中,緩衝插入件30包含間隔開來的頂面及底面30a,30b,及多個突起的衝擊區32,其被設置成緊鄰第一下凹的衝擊區34。該等突起的衝擊區32被界定在該頂面30a中且從該頂面30a向上延伸,且被設置在與該等多個孔20相對應的預定區域中並具有一寬度W1(其可隨著需要而改變),及一預定的厚度T2,其被選擇以大於該蓋子12的厚度T1。在此實施例中,該等突起的衝擊區32的寬度W1在約0.200英吋至約0.400英吋之間,較佳地在約0.250英吋至約0.350英吋之間,更佳地為約0.305英吋;及該厚度T2的範圍在約0.150英吋至約0.350英吋之間,較佳地在約0.200英吋至0.300英吋之間,更佳地為0.240英吋。
該等突起的衝擊區32被該等第一下凹的衝擊區34彼此分隔開來。該等第一下凹的衝擊區34具有一寬度W2(其可隨著需要而改變),及一預定的厚度T3,其被選擇以小於該等突起的衝擊區32的厚度T2。在此實施例中,該等第一下凹的衝擊區34的寬度W2在約0.100英吋至約0.200英吋之間,較佳地在約0.130英吋至約0.170英吋之間,更佳地為約0.150英吋;及該厚度T3的範圍在約
0.025英吋至約0.045英吋之間,較佳地在約0.030英吋至0.040英吋之間,更佳地為0.035英吋。
該緩衝插入件30亦可包含第二下凹的衝擊區36,其對應於該手機的輪廓、邊緣及/或角落,以便於該緩衝插入件30彎折及/或屈曲成該蓋子12的輪廓、邊緣及/或角落。該等第二下凹的衝擊區36具有一寬度W3(其可隨著需要而改變),及一預定的厚度T4,其被選擇以小於該等第一下凹的衝擊區34的厚度T3。在此實施例中,該等第二下凹的衝擊區36的寬度W3在約0.080英吋至約0.200英吋之間,較佳地在約0.100英吋至約0.170英吋之間,更佳地為約0.132英吋;及該厚度T4的範圍在約0.010英吋至約0.030英吋之間,較佳地在約0.015英吋至0.025英吋之間,更佳地為0.020英吋。在組裝時,該等突起的衝擊區32突伸或延伸至該緩衝插入件30的外表面上方一段D1的距離,如圖12所示。
所有上述的厚度、寬度、距離及間距可隨著需要而改變。
在此實施例中,該等突起的衝擊區32包含一上表面32a及從該上表面向下延伸的側壁32b。藉由突伸至該蓋子12的外表面上方,該等突起的衝擊區32可具有任何足以提供防護或舒服效果的厚度。因此,為了某些功能上的好處,該等突起的衝擊區32的厚度可被設計成當在一組裝好的組態時其突伸至該殼的外表面上方。例如,在此示範性的手機裝置殼10中,當被組裝時,該等突起的衝擊
區32可突伸或延伸至該蓋子12的外表面12a上方約1/16英吋至約1/2英吋。如果想要或有需要的話,且如此實施例所示,該緩衝插入件30亦可包含突起的衝擊區32,其被設計成突伸穿過該側壁或該表框,用以保護邊緣及/或螢幕免於受衝擊。
該緩衝插入件30的厚度可隨著需要而被改變,但在維持薄到足以將該殼的總重量最小化的同時,該厚度必需足以保護該裝置免於受衝擊。
雖然本文中被例示為實質的方形,但該等突起的衝擊區32可隨著達到衝擊防護的功能性好處的需要而具有任何形狀或形態。突起的衝擊區的大小、形狀、數量、形態及位置可隨著需求而改變,用以達到前述的目的。為了美觀的目的,該蓋子及緩衝插入件的顏色可以相同或不同,且亦可包括紋路及/或圖案。
該緩衝插入件30亦非必要地包含一或多個與蓋子12上的非必要的孔相對應之功能性孔26或洞,其在形狀、大小及位置上係與功能鍵或其它必需保持不受遮擋的物件(譬如,充電埠、天線、相機觀景窗、及類此者)的形狀、大小及位置相對應。
該緩衝插入件30亦非必要地可包含一或多個穿孔40,其被形成在該第二下凹的衝擊區內或如所需地在其它地方,用以促進該緩衝插入件30進入該蓋子12內的順從性。
為了組裝該殼,該緩衝插入件30可沿著該等第二下
凹的衝擊區36被摺疊且被插入到蓋子12內,使得該等突起的衝擊區32與該等接受孔22對準及該等第二下凹的衝擊區36例如與該手機的角落對準,使得該等突起的衝擊區32被容納在對應的接受孔22內且至少部分地穿過該等對應的接受孔22,及該等突起的衝擊區32的一部分延伸至該蓋子12的上表面12a上方。
當被組裝時,該等突起的衝擊區32從該蓋子12上對應的接受孔22突伸出,且介於該等突起的衝擊區32之間的該等第一下凹的衝擊區34被設置在該等突起的衝擊區32之間的支撐件24底下。該等突起的衝擊區32至少發揮保護該蓋子及電子裝置免受衝擊的功用,且設置在該蓋子12底下的該等第一及第二下凹的衝擊區34,36亦透過設置在該裝置與該蓋子之間的材料吸收能量。因此,該殼10因為該等外露的突起的衝擊區32及該緩衝插入件30之設置在該蓋子12底下與該電子裝置相鄰的部分而提供抗衝擊及吸收能量的功效。雖然在本文中被例示的是該等接受孔20被設置成將該等突起的衝擊區32接納於其內,但蓋子12亦可被形成為包含下凹的區域(未示出),而不是孔,來將該等突起的衝擊區32接納於其內。
一示範性殼100的另一實施例被示於圖17-18中。殼100包含與殼10相同的特徵構造,但在本文中特別提到的部分除外。在此實施例中,在蓋子12’中的該等接受孔22及支撐件24包含不同的形狀及大小,而非前一實施例之具有相同的形狀及大小。而且,在此實施例中,在該緩
衝插入件30’內之該等突起的衝擊區32的上表面32a包含溝槽38,其具有一厚度T5,該厚度小於該等突起的衝擊區32的厚度T2,且大於第一突起的衝擊區34的厚度T3。溝槽38為該緩衝插入件30’提供更大的可撓曲性及不同的美感外觀。
一示範性殼200的另一實施例被示於圖19及20中。殼200包含於第一實施例相同的蓋子12。在此實施例中,殼200包含一緩衝插入件30",其具有大致平的截面及均勻的厚度,不同於該等第二下凹的衝擊區36。因此,當殼100被組裝時,該頂面30a經由接受孔22被外露,其賦予一不同於之前的實施例的美學外觀,特別是當蓋子12和該緩衝插入件30"具有不同的顏色、圖案及類此者時。在此實施例中,藉由使用一具有相對高的抗衝擊性及/或吸收性的材料(譬如,與應變率有關的材料),該緩衝插入件30"的厚度可被改變用以獲得所想要的抗衝擊量,且該抗衝擊性可被提高,同時保持一相對薄的殼輪廓。
另一示範性殼300的實施例被示於圖20中。在此實施例中,殼300包含與前一實施例相同的緩衝插入件30",其具有大致平的截面及均勻的厚度,不同於該等第二下凹的衝擊區36。在此實施例中,蓋子12"亦具有一帶有均勻的厚度之大致平的截面,其不同於功能性孔26及突起的按鍵28。與前一實施例一樣地,藉由使用一具有相對高的抗衝擊性及/或吸收性的材料(譬如,與應變率有關的材料),該緩衝插入件30"的厚度可被改變用以獲得所想要

在所有前述實施例中,蓋子及緩衝插入件兩者的顏色及/或圖案可被美觀的理由而被改變。該蓋子可被當作一包含顏色、圖案及/或形狀不同的兩個或更多個蓋子及/或兩個或更多個緩衝插入件的套件般來出售,以允許消費者如所需地更換蓋子及緩衝插入件。
圖13-16例示依據本發明之可被使用在任何上述的殼中之各種示範性緩衝插入件的不同實施例。
如圖13的剖面圖所示,緩衝插入件30包含一緩衝層50其被設置在非必要的相對的層52,54之間及一強化層56其被設置在該緩衝層50與層54之間。該強化層56提供該緩衝插入件30更好的撕裂強度及撓曲性(特別是在該等第二下凹的衝擊區36中)以及下文所述的其它好處。如果想要的話,層56可被層合於層54上,只要層56是多孔性的。此外,如果想要的話,前述的緩衝插入件30可包含一設置在層56與層54之間的黏劑層(未示出)。
如圖14的剖面圖所示,緩衝插入件30a包含一設置在非必要的相對的層52,54之間的緩衝層50,及纖維層58,其被設置成鄰近層52、與緩衝層50及下層54相反。如果想要的話,纖維層58可被層合於層52上。
如圖15的剖面圖所示,緩衝插入件30b具有與緩衝插入件30相同的結構並額外地包含一纖維層58,其被設置成鄰近層54,與緩衝層50相反。如果想要的話,纖維
層58可被層合於層54上。
如圖15A的剖面圖所示,緩衝插入件30c具有與緩衝插入件30b相同的結構並額外地包含一纖維層58,其被設置成鄰近層52,與緩衝層50相反。如果想要的話,纖維層58可被層合於層52上。
如圖16的剖面圖所示,緩衝插入件30d包含一緩衝層50其被設置在相對的上及下層52之間、一強化層56其被設置在緩衝層50和下層52之間、及相對立的纖維層58其被設置成鄰近兩個層52,與緩衝層50相反。如果想要的話,纖維層58可被層合於層52上。

使用Kevlar、金屬編織物或針織物來形成該強化層
56可提供尖銳物穿刺及/或戳刺防護;使用鐵線網或可彎折的多孔性基材可提供形塑該插入件的能力;使用立體織物可改善撕裂強度,並提供額外的偏斜衝擊層;使用氣凝膠不織布提供超絕緣;使用相變織物,譬如Outlast,提供能量儲存特性;使用去靜電織物或不織布可提供靜電排放;使用活性劑,譬如銀,可提供像是抗微生物活性的特性;使用選擇性的模切(die cut)織物或紗幕可提供根據該強化層被選取的部分的大小、形狀及位置選擇性撐開或強化的區域;使用矽或其它塑膠網可提供耐熱及/或強度。
在一些例子中,讓該墊子是質輕是所想要的,且在這些例子中,該緩衝層50可包含一發泡體材料,譬如低密度發泡體材料。適合的低密度發泡體材料包括聚酯及聚醚聚胺基甲酸乙酯發泡體。在一些例子中,讓該緩衝插入件能夠提供抗衝擊是所想要的。在這些例子中,各種衝擊吸收材料已被發現適合用於該緩衝層,特別是能量吸收或與應變率有關的材料,這包括發泡體材料。對於這些應用而言,讓這些發泡體具有每平方英呎約5磅至約35磅(pcf)範圍內的密度是所想要的,較佳地是在約10至約30pcf之間,更佳地是在約15至約25pcf之間。適合之與應變率有關的發泡體可從Rogers公司所販售之商標為PORON®及PORON XDR®的發泡體獲得,其為開放式單元,微型聚胺基甲酸乙酯發泡體。

前述材料的至少一者的組合。可被用於外層的塑膠的例子包括但不侷限於乙烯/醋酸乙烯酯共聚物(“EVA”)、耐綸、聚酯、聚乙烯、聚烯烴、聚胺基甲酸酯、聚氯乙烯(“PVC”)、聚苯乙烯、聚四氯乙烯(“PTFE”)、乳膠橡膠、矽、乙烯、及它們的組合。其它可能的材料包括許多其它合成的及/或非合成的材料,其包括但不侷限於紙、織物、金屬、金屬化塑膠、塑膠膜、金屬箔、及/或類此者,以及混合物及/或包含前述至少一者的組合。其它可被用於外層之耐用的材料包括針織物、編織布及不織布、皮革、乙烯或任何其它適合的材料。在一些例子中,使用有點彈性的材料來形成該層是所想要的;因此,有拉伸性的織物,譬如彈性人造纖維織物,可以是所想要。使用拉伸性織物作為該層可以是所想要的,因為它可改善該等下凹的衝擊區及溝槽的屈曲性。
在此實施例中,在該強化層56中該緩衝層50的厚度在製造處理期間可被最小化,使得它的厚度接近於零。因此,在該等下凹的衝擊區中,特別是該第二下凹的衝擊區36中,的緩衝材料用肉眼是看不出來的,或只能用非常靈敏的厚度計才能偵測到。
留在該等材內或在該等層之間之多餘的緩衝材料有助於將該等層與下凹的衝擊區34,36黏合在一起。根據所使用之材料,該等層之間的黏合可至少部分是化學性的、熱性的或機械性的結合,或它們的組合。例如,如果用作為該緩衝層的材料是樹脂的話,則在該等下凹的衝擊區
34,36中之多餘的樹脂可作為一黏劑來將該等層黏合在一起。使用樹脂作為黏合劑是有利的,因為它可以省掉在該等下凹的衝擊區34,36中使用一黏劑的需求,且它可保持該緩衝插入件的黏合一致性及整體相同的可撓曲性,這可改善其耐用性。
或者,如果一織物被用作為該相反的上層及下層52,54中的一層的話,則在該等下凹的衝擊區34,36中介於該等層之間的結合可以至少部分是機械性的,因為該樹脂被擠入到該織物的開孔或孔隙內,使得該等層56及52,54的一部分在製造期間黏合,形成在黏合的層52,54的島狀物之間之黏合的層50,52,54的“島狀物”。
藉由將該等下凹的衝擊區34,36中的緩衝層50最小化或消除,該等下凹的衝擊區34,36的可撓曲性被最大化,使得整個緩衝插入件能夠彎折、屈曲、折疊及扭曲於許多方向上。例如,該緩衝插入件可在該第二下凹的衝擊區36處向後彎折或屈曲180度,且在向前的方向上,該可撓曲性只受到該等突起的衝擊區的厚度及間距的限制。
在此實施例中,在該等下凹的衝擊區34,36內的該緩衝材料與鄰近該緩衝層之間存在該連續的黏合是有利的,因為它將該等突起的衝擊區32“鎖定”在定位,防止緩衝材料從該緩衝插入件30跑出來或將其減至最小,或者防止在該緩衝插入件30內的材料(譬如液體)跑出來或將其減至最少。因此,該等下凹的衝擊區34,36穩定該緩衝插入件30,特別是該緩衝材料,使得流體或其它材
料不能滲透該緩衝插入件,否則將會導致分層(delamination)。
當該等擔子用一前層、一後層、或這兩層來予以模製時,最大的墊撓曲性可在該下凹的衝擊區厚度大致等於除了該緩衝層以外的該等層的總厚度時,或當該緩衝層的厚度接近於零時被達成。例如,在上文所描述的實施例中,在整個緩衝插入件上(包括該等下凹的衝擊區在內),該等層可連續地被黏合至緩衝層50。根據該墊的構造,當在該等下凹的衝擊區內的材料數量被最小化時,外層及內層可被黏合至該緩衝層或彼此黏合。將頂層黏合至該緩衝層的一項好處為能夠提供連續的、未被中斷的表面於該緩衝層的上方及底下(即,將該緩衝層包覆起來),而不是在該緩衝插入件的周邊。因為該等下凹的衝擊區比該等突起的衝擊區薄,所以該等連續地黏合的層可強化該等下凹的衝擊區,把使用期間因為屈曲而發生的斷裂最小化。至少一黏合的層可被用於該等薄的下凹的衝擊區在屈曲期間的保護。一熱塑性聚胺基甲酸酯膜可防止該等層在該等下凹的衝擊區的斷裂或將其最小化。如果黏合至發泡體的話,此一層亦提供該等下凹的衝擊區強度。在該等下凹的衝擊區的厚度很小,特別是很少膜或沒有膜在該等下凹的衝擊區內,的例子中,內黏合層及外黏合層兩者在有或沒有該強化層下維持該等墊的結構完整性是所想要的。該內層及外層使用一具有實質的彈性的材料,譬如TPE膜、彈性人造纖維織物、及類此者,使所想要的。在一些實施例中,
使用具有層合式膜底襯的織物是所想要的。一織物與一膜層的層合物(譬如,一聚胺基甲酸酯膜層合物)的頂層是所想要的,用以將該等下凹的衝擊區的耐用性最大化。
此緩衝插入件亦可被設計來在不嚴重損及防護性之下強化空氣及/或濕氣傳輸性。該等突起的及/或下凹的衝擊區可包含穿孔(未示出),其可強化濕氣或空氣傳輸率。使用毛細作用織物(wicking fabric)作為底層,或與一TPE膜層結合作為頂層,亦可強化舒適度且將濕氣毛細作用通過該等下凹的衝擊區。
使用高濕度蒸汽穿透性(“MVT”)膜層可進一步強化舒適度。此等膜層係藉由化學性吸收/去吸收來作用。這些膜的例子有來自於Omniflex之產品名為Sympatex或TX1540的膜。亦可使用微孔型高MVT膜,譬如Goretex或Porelle(由Porvair製造),或其它類似的膜。
在該等層的一或多者中使用活性劑是所想要的。例如,添加以銀或銅為基底的活性劑可提供該材料抗微生物或抗真菌的特性。使用活性劑於內層或外層或發泡體本身內是所想要的,譬如添加以銀或銅為基底的活性劑以作為抗微生物或抗真菌劑。
可用於該緩衝插入件的材料或用來製造用於緩衝插入件的材料的方法被揭露在共同擁有且共同繫屬中之2011年8月11日提申的美國專利申請案第13/208,229號;及2011年10月12日提申之美國專利申請案第13/271,594號中,每一申請案的內容皆藉此參照而被併於本文中。除
了以上所述之外,適合用於前述的層及黏劑(如果有使用的話)的材料被揭露在前述的專利申請案中,及在美國專利公開案第US 2008/0034614號及US 2009/0255625號中,其亦揭露用來製造緩衝插入件的技術;前述每一專利公開案的內容皆藉由此參照而被併於本文中。對於某些實施例而言,用於本發明的墊子的模具被設計成可允許該等層在足以將該等下凹的衝擊區內的發泡體減至最少或甚至去除掉的條件下被壓擠在一起,同時允許該等層黏合在一起。
至些改善的例子的好處包括但不侷限於更好的衝擊防護,特別是在邊緣及角落部分、更輕的重量、美學上的改善、更低的製造成本、及被包覆的物件的磨傷更少。本發明的這些改善的例子包含可分開的內及外互連式部件,其實質地順從待保護的物件的外表面。除了上文提到的產品之外,該等保護殼可被設計來用於任何種類之需要保護的產品上。
此外,許多材料(包括發泡體材料在內)會因為磨損及擦傷而隨著時間劣化,因而產生滲透到該裝置內並造成功能上的問題。讓發泡體胞體(foam cell)外露是所不想要的,因為發泡體胞體會抓住泥土或灰塵且不美觀且亦會刮傷該裝置。該緩衝材料在該等下凹的衝擊區之間的包覆性在該緩衝插入件的相反的表面的一者或兩者上提供保護層或阻隔層,其可防止磨損、擦傷、顆粒的形成或將其減至最小、且可對發泡體提供濕氣防護。因此,該緩衝插入件可
包含多層,譬如一軟的發泡體部件其具有連續地黏合的頂面層,其中該軟的部件的頂面層突伸穿過在該硬殼上的開孔。在這些殼中,該平的側邊或底層紡織品或薄膜可被選擇,用以形成該殼的襯裡。與不具有該等連續的層的發泡體比較起來,延伸橫跨整個插入件的該連續黏合的膜層或織物層提供實質地改善的耐用性。
當該連續地黏合的膜被使用時,設置在該等突起的緩衝區之間的該緩衝插入件的厚度約為0.020英吋(千分之20英吋),但它可以是更厚一些或更薄一些或可以是零(如果整體的衝擊防護是不須要的話)。對於吸收衝擊而言,在沒有增加太多厚度下,一約0.020英吋至約0.060英吋的厚度是所想要的。改變該等突起的及/或下凹的衝擊區的尺寸的能力讓它們可針對其它裝置,譬如相機外殼、鏡頭外殼、行李箱、ipad等等,被客製化。
一用作為電子裝置的保護殼之硬質塑膠殼的一項缺點為,當一裝置被掉落時,該殼經常會破裂且必須予以更換。本發明的保護殼具有一額外的優點,即它可保護該硬質外殼不會破裂,因為該等突起的衝擊區首先會中止該衝擊。
許多保護殼的另一項缺點為,在保護殼內的裝置在側邊或邊緣衝擊中比在正面或背面衝擊中更容易壞掉。在本發明的殼中,使用衝擊吸收發泡體作為該插入件(譬如,PORON XDR)可提供此一衝擊的防護。

- 一種用於電子裝置的保護殼,其包含:一具有一背部及一連接至該背部的側壁的蓋子,其與該電子裝置嚙合,該蓋子包含一材料其順從該電子裝置的 一部分,該蓋子具有一預定的厚度,該蓋子進一步包含互連的支撐件,其由多個設置在預定的區域中的接受孔所界定;及一緩衝插入件,其包含一與應變率有關的材料,使得當該緩衝插入件被設置在該蓋子內時,該蓋子使該緩衝插入件順從該電子裝置。
- 如申請專利範圍第33項之保護殼,其中該緩衝插入件更包含突起的衝擊區,其被設置成緊鄰第一下凹的衝擊區部分,該等突起的衝擊區被設置在對應於該等多個接受孔的預定區域內且具有一大於該蓋子的厚度的預定厚度,該等突起的衝擊區與該等多個接受孔嚙合,使得該等突起的衝擊區與該蓋子的外表面同平面,且當該蓋子使該緩衝插入件順從該電子裝置時,該等多個互連的支撐件被設置在該等第一下凹的衝擊區部分內並與之嚙合。
