Abstract

背景技术
当前存在很多不同种类的电子设备用于通信、娱乐和其它目的。这些电子设备包括手机、MP3播放机、视频播放机、智能手机、通信设备比如无线电话机、导航设备比如GPS设备及其它类型的电子设备比如各种类型的计算机,包括便携式计算机、手持电脑、超移动电脑和平板电脑。这些设备通常包括触摸屏、交互式面板,包括但不限于电容耦合接口、键盘、滚轮、倾斜开关、按钮开关及其它交互控制件。由于这些电子设备的敏感性质,希望对这些设备提供保护。
发明内容
在一个实施例中公开了一种用于电子设备的保护壳,包括:外罩,其符合并接合电子设备的一部分,该外罩具有背面部分和连接到背面部分的侧壁,该外罩包括由布置在预定区域中的多个接纳孔限定的相互连接的支撑构件,且该外罩包括预定厚度的弹性体材料;以及缓冲插入物,其包括邻近第一凹进冲击区域布置的突起冲击区域,该突起冲击区域布置在与多个接纳孔对应的预定区域中且具有比外罩的厚度 大的预定厚度。当保护壳被组装到电子设备上时,多个相互连接的支撑构件与第一凹进冲击区域接合,使得外罩使缓冲插入物与电子设备相符合,且突起冲击区域与多个接纳孔接合,使得突起冲击区域延伸到外罩的外表面之上。保护壳还可包括一个或更多个第二凹进冲击区域,其中第二凹进冲击区域的厚度比第一凹进冲击区域的厚度小。

在另一个实施例中公开了一种保护壳,包括:外罩,其符合并接合电子设备的一部分,该外罩具有背面部分和连接到背面部分的侧壁,外罩包括由布置在预定区域中的多个接纳孔限定的相互连接的支撑构件,且外罩包括预定厚度的弹性体材料,所述弹性体材料具有约80Shore A至约100Shore A的范围的硬度;多层缓冲插入物,其包括邻近第一凹进冲击区域布置的突起冲击区域,该突起冲击区域布置在与多个接纳孔对应的预定区域中且具有比外罩的厚度大的预定厚度,该缓冲插入物包括多层连续地结合的材料和增强层,该多层连续地结合的材料包括布置在由热塑性弹性体材料(TPE)制成的相对置的层之间的率相关泡沫,并且该增强层布置在率相关泡沫层和TPE层中的一个TPE层之间;一个或更多个第二凹进冲击区域,其具有比第一凹进冲 击区域的厚度小的厚度。当保护壳被组装到电子设备上时,多个相互连接的支撑构件与第一凹进冲击区域接合,使得外罩使缓冲插入物与电子设备相符合,且突起冲击区域与多个接纳孔接合,使得突起冲击区域延伸到外罩的外表面之上。

具体实施方式
本公开涉及设计用以保护敏感物品免于破坏的保护性冲击吸收和缓冲结构。本结构能够符合待保护的物品的轮廓且提供触摸起来舒服的外部表面。在一些实施例中,本结构包括各种形状、尺寸、构型和厚度的突起冲击区域和凹进冲击区域两者。各种材料能够用于突起冲击区域,如下面将描述的那样。
本公开内容的改进壳包括相互连接的但可分离的内侧壳部分和外侧壳部分,该内侧壳部分和外侧壳部分基本上符合待保护的物品的外表面。壳能够设计为具有特定的功能特性,比如,例如,在壳边缘和角部上的重点冲击保护。通过组合突起和凹进冲击区域的特定形状、尺寸、构型、轮廓和定向,除上述的那些之外,壳能够适合于需要保护的任何类型的产品。
例如,该壳可改造用以与电子设备(比如手持电脑或平板设备)的形状和尺寸对应的套或壳,使得它们紧密配合,但是也可伸展并符合壳的外部。这样,壳可以形成为至少部分地符合所包住的产品的外表面的形状。本文描述的壳也可以适合于行李、运动保护装置等。
这样的保护壳可提供轻量且柔性的耐冲击保护,且可以是美学上令人愉悦的、更耐用的,而且成本比其它壳低。为了容易论述,此处使用的术语“柔性”意味着垫子通过弯曲、扭转、挠曲和/或拉伸等而移动的能力。该壳的结构是高低不平的、耐用的且能够经受在工业和/或商业洗烫中使用的温度、洗涤剂和机械作用,而不像在这样苛刻的条件下退化的其它壳。
图1-13当一起考虑时示出了本公开的一个示例性实施例,其涉及用于电子设备(未示出)比如医疗设备或手机的保护壳10。尽管本文参考用于电子设备的保护壳进行描述,如上面提到的那样,但是保护壳可适合于需要保护或设计用以提供保护的任何产品。壳10在图1中以组装构型示出且在图2中以拆开构型示出。如所示,壳10包括外罩12和缓冲插入物30,在组装时,外罩12和缓冲插入物30可以相互连接,如图1所示,但是以其它方式彼此可分离,如图2所示。在本实施例中,外罩12是单一的整体部件,但是如果需要,其可以形成为能够组装到电子设备的表面上的两个或更多个可分离的但是互锁的部件。类似地,缓冲插入物30可以包括能够插入外罩12内的两个或更多个部件。
外罩12可以构造得符合缓冲插入物30的至少一部分的外表面。外罩12包括背面区段14、从背面区段14向上延伸的侧壁16和从侧壁16向内延伸以限定前开口的框18。背面区段14、侧壁16和前框18中的每一个分别包括相对置的内表面14a、16a和外表面14b、16b。
背面区段14和侧壁16中的一个或两者包括从内表面14a、16a延伸到外表面14b、16b的多个接纳孔22,以限定布置在接纳孔22之间的多个相互连接的支撑构件24。
外罩12还包括一个或多个功能孔26,该一个或多个功能孔26在 形状、尺寸和位置上对应于可包括在电子设备(本文没有示出一个)上的各种功能键、端口、设备或其它物品的尺寸、形状和位置,以保持这种物品不受阻碍。这种功能键的示例包括但不限于充电端口、扬声器、辅助端口、电源键、摄像机镜头等。
外罩12还包括一个或多个突起键28,该一个或多个突起键28在形状、尺寸和位置上对应于由于壳的厚度而可能限制访问的较小的功能键或端口(此处也没有示出)的形状、尺寸和位置,以允许用户在不从电子设备移除壳的情况下保持功能访问。这种较小的功能键的示例包括但不限于电源和音量键。
外罩12可以由基本上刚性的、半刚性的和/或柔性的材料形成,且具有与手机对应的尺寸和构型,在外罩的内表面和手机的外表面之间具有足够的空间,以允许缓冲插入物布置在其中。在本实施例中,外罩12是整体式的且包括弹性体材料,弹性体材料是柔性的且能够充分地伸展以允许电子设备容易地滑动到壳10内以及从壳10移除。外罩12具有足够的弹性以在电子设备上伸展且恢复,使得外罩紧密地配合在缓冲插入物和电子设备上,从而使得壳10符合电子设备。外罩12可以由各种热固性材料制成,比如合成橡胶、硅树脂、氨基甲酸乙酯和能够充分地伸展以允许电子设备滑入外罩12的前开口同时维持外罩12的形状配合的形状的其它材料。外罩12的密度和弹性以及外罩12用以配合电子设备的形状的预成型允许外罩12的材料伸展和恢复,使得缓冲外罩紧密配合在电子设备上。当是刚性或半刚性时,可能希望外罩12包括两个或更多个可分离的但是能够组装到手机的前表面和后表面上的互锁部件。外罩12可以利用适合于处理本领域已知的前述材料的各种技术和工艺形成。
在本实施例中,外罩12具有选择成小于缓冲插入物的最厚区段T2的预定厚度,如下面将描述的那样。在本实施例中,厚度的范围为约0.050”至约0.090”,更具体地约0.060”至约0.080”,更具体地为约 0.075”。
图4和13更详细地示出缓冲插入物30。缓冲插入物30可构造得符合预期包住的制品的外表面的至少一部分,制品在该示例中为手机。壳插入物30可由各种材料形成,使得其具有与外罩的内表面的一部分和手机的外表面的一部分对应的尺寸和构型,以及允许其配合在外罩的内表面和手机的外表面之间,以允许其配合在其间的厚度。
在本示例性实施例中,缓冲插入物30包括间隔开的顶表面和底表面30a、30b,以及邻近第一凹进冲击区域34布置的多个突起冲击区域32。突起冲击区域32被限定在顶表面30a中且从顶表面30a向上延伸,并且布置在与多个接纳孔22对应的预定区域中并具有可根据需要改变的宽度W1和选择成大于外罩12的厚度的预定厚度T2。在本实施例中,突起冲击区域32的宽度W1为约0.200”至约0.400”,更具体地约0.250”至约0.350”,且更具体地约0.305”;且厚度T2的范围为约0.150”至约0.350”,更具体地约0.200”至约0.300”,更具体地约0.240”。
突起冲击区域32通过第一凹进冲击区域34互相间隔开。第一凹进冲击区域34具有可根据需要改变的宽度W2和选择成小于突起冲击区域32的厚度T2的预定厚度T3。在本实施例中,第一凹进冲击区域34的宽度W2为约0.100”至约0.200”,更具体地约0.130”至约0.170”,且更具体地约0.150”;且厚度T3的范围为约0.025”至约0.045”,更具体地约0.030”至约0.040”,更具体地约0.035”。
缓冲插入物30还可包括与手机的轮廓、边缘和/或角部对应的第二凹进冲击区域36,以方便将缓冲插入物30弯曲和/或挠曲到外罩12的轮廓、边缘和/或角部中。第二凹进冲击区域36具有可根据需要改变的宽度W3和选择成小于第一凹进区域36的厚度T3的预定厚度T4。在本实施例中,第二凹进冲击区域36的宽度W3为约0.080”至约0.200”,更具体地约0.100”至约0.170”,且更具体地约0.132”;且厚度T4的范 围为约0.010”至约0.030”,更具体地约0.015”至约0.025”,更具体地约0.020”。当组装时,突起冲击区域32在外罩12的外表面上突出或延伸出距离D1,如图12所示。
所有前述的厚度、宽度、距离和间距可以根据需要改变。
在本实施例中,突起冲击区域32包括上表面32a和从其向下延伸的侧壁32b。突起冲击区域32可以具有足以通过在外罩12的外表面上方突出而提供保护或舒服效果的任何厚度。因此,为了某些功能优点,突起冲击区域32的厚度可以设计成当在组装构型中时在壳的外表面上方突出。例如,在本示例性手机设备壳10中,当组装时,突起冲击区域32可在外罩12的外表面上方突出或延伸出约1/16英寸至约1/2英寸。如果希望或需要,且如本实施例中示出的,缓冲插入物26还可以包括设计成突出穿过侧壁或框以保护边缘和/或屏幕免于破坏的突起冲击区域32。
缓冲插入物26的厚度可以根据需要改变,但是希望的是,厚度足以保护设备免于破坏,同时保持足够得薄以最小化壳的总重量。
尽管此处示出为基本上正方形,但是突起冲击区域32可以具有所希望的任何形状或构型以实现冲击保护或意图吸引消费者的审美设计的功能优点。突起冲击区域的尺寸、形状、构型和位置可以根据希望改变以便实现前述目的。为了审美目的,外罩和缓冲插入物的颜色可以相同或不同,且还可以包括文本和/图形。
缓冲插入物26还任选地可包括与外罩12中的任选孔对应的一个或多个功能孔26或孔洞,其在形状、尺寸和位置与必须保持无障碍的功能键或其它物品(比如充电端口、天线、摄像机取景器等)的尺寸、形状和位置对应。
缓冲插入物26还任选地可包括在第二凹进冲击区域中或希望的其它地方上形成的一个或多个穿孔40以方便缓冲插入物26与外罩12相符合。
为了组装壳,缓冲插入物30可以沿第二凹进冲击区域36进行折叠并插入外罩12内,使得突起冲击区域32与接纳孔22对齐且第二凹进冲击区域36与例如手机的角部对齐,从而突起冲击区域32被接纳到并至少部分地穿过相应的接纳孔22,且突起冲击区域32的一部分在外罩12的上表面上方延伸。
当组装时,突起冲击区域32从外罩12上的相应的接纳孔22突出,且突起冲击区域32之间的第一凹进区域34在突起冲击区域32之间布置在支撑构件24下方。突出的突起冲击区域32至少用以保护外罩和电子设备免受破坏,且布置在外罩12下方的第一和第二凹进冲击区域34、36也通过布置在设备和外罩之间的材料吸收能量。因此,由于露在外面的突起冲击区域32和缓冲插入物12的邻近电子设备布置在外罩12下方的部分,壳10提供冲击阻力和能量吸收。尽管此处示出具有适合于在其中接纳突起冲击区域32的接纳孔22,但是外罩12还能够形成为包括凹进区域(未示出),而不是孔,以在其中接纳突起冲击区域32。
参考图17-18示出了示例性壳100的另一实施例。壳100包括与壳10相同的特征,除非本文另外明示。在本实施例中,外罩12’中的接纳孔22和支撑构件24包括不同的形状和尺寸,而不是与之前实施例相同的形状和尺寸。而且在本实施例中,缓冲插入物30’中的突起冲击区域32的上表面32a包括凹槽38,该凹槽38具有比突起冲击区域32的厚度T2小且比第一凹进冲击区域34的厚度T3大的厚度T5。凹槽38向缓冲插入物30’提供增加的柔性和不同的审美外观。
图19和20示出了示例性壳200的另一实施例。壳200包括与第 一实施例相同的外罩12。在本实施例中,壳200包括具有基本上平面横截面和均匀厚度的缓冲插入物30”,除第二凹进冲击区域36之外。因此,当壳100被组装时,顶表面30a通过接纳孔32露出,这赋予与之前实施例不同的审美外观,特别是当外罩12和缓冲插入物30”具有不同颜色、图案等时。在本实施例中,缓冲插入物30”的厚度可以改变以便获得希望的冲击阻力量,且通过使用具有相对较高的冲击阻力和/吸收的材料,比如率相关材料,使得冲击阻力被增加,同时维持壳相对较薄的轮廓。
图20示出了另一示例性壳300的实施例。在本实施例中,壳300包括与之前实施例相同的缓冲插入物30”,且具有基本上平面横截面和均匀厚度,除第二凹进冲击区域36之外。在本实施例中,外罩12”还具有基本上平面横截面,具有均匀厚度,除功能孔26和突起键28之外。如在之前实施例中的一样,缓冲插入物30”的厚度可以改变以便获得希望的冲击阻力量,且通过使用具有相对较高的冲击阻力和/吸收的材料,比如率相关材料,使得冲击阻力被增加,同时维持壳相对较薄的轮廓。
在所有前述实施例中,外罩和缓冲插入物两者的颜色和/或图案可以由于审美原因而改变。壳可以作为包括具有不同颜色、图案和/或图形的两个或更多个外罩和/或两个或更多个缓冲插入物的成套部件出售,以允许消费者根据需要更换外罩和缓冲插入物。
图13-16示出根据本公开的可在前述壳中的任一壳中使用的各种示例性缓冲插入物30的各种实施例。
如图13中以横截面示出的,缓冲插入物30包括布置在任选的相对置的层52、54之间的缓冲层50和布置在缓冲层50和层54之间的增强层56。增强层56为缓冲插入物30提供改进的抗撕裂强度和柔性,特别是在第二凹进冲击区域36中,以及下面描述的其它优点。如果希 望的话,则层56可以被层压到层54,假定层56是多孔的。可替代地,如果希望的话,则前述的缓冲插入物30可包括布置在层56和层54之间的粘合剂层(未示出)。

增强层相对于其它层的位置不限于上述结构,且可以根据需要改变。此外,对前述层中的任何或所有所使用的材料类型可以根据需要改变。另外,前述实施例中的任何一个可进一步包括根据需要或希望而布置在任何层之间的一个或多个粘合剂层。此外,任何前述结构可以颠倒(未示出),使得层的相对定向从顶部到底部颠倒。
用于增强材料层56的合适材料包括但不限于充分多孔以允许缓冲材料在模制工艺期间流过增强材料的孔隙或空隙而使得缓冲材料直 接接触屏障层并结合至屏障层的材料。结合工艺可以是化学的、机械的、热的和类似工艺,或者其组合等。
用于增强层56的合适多孔增强材料包括但不限于纺织织物和非纺织织物、针织物、间隔织物、稀洋纱、缠结聚酯(包括水力缠结的和/或空气缠结的)等。用于增强层56的其它合适材料包括但不限于针织物或纺织物,再次是层压的或自由漂浮的。针织物可以为圆形针织物、经编针织物、间隔针织物等。多孔增强层56的使用允许层与可模制的材料变得饱和并变得形成略微表面刚性的多孔层,这可在冲击期间提供额外的保护,以及为缓冲插入物提供额外的结构完整性。
合适的非纺织材料包括但不限于干法、纺粘、点结合、缝合结合的泡沫等。一种合适的非纺织材料是重量范围在约0.1和约15盎司/平方码之间,更具体地在约0.5盎司和约5盎司/平方码之间,且更具体地约1盎司至约4盎司/平方码的水力缠结的聚酯。如果为非纺织物,则增强层56在具有较小的重量、体积或织物费用的情况下提供在凹进冲击区域34、36中改进的撕裂性和挠曲性,且在没有任选的织物或衬里的情况下增加改进。对于增强层56使用非纺织物也提供光泽的、防水的且易于清洁的外表面,同时提供凹进冲击区域34、36中的耐撕裂性。
与针织物或纺织物相比,任意的非纺织纤维可以提供改进的软度,并且消除或最小化在挠曲或弯曲时“屈服(knuckle)”的趋势。非纺织结构的任意性质可以提供改进的软度,且在一些情形中在凹进冲击区域34、36处提供更好的抗撕裂强度。
对于增强层56使用Kevlar、金属纺织或针织织物提供对尖锐物体的刺穿和/或刺入保护;丝网或可弯曲的多孔基板的使用提供使插入物成形的能力;间隔织物的使用改进抗撕裂强度并提供额外的偏斜冲击层;气凝胶非纺织物的使用提供超隔离性;相变织物比如Outlast的使 用提供能量存储性能;静态耗散织物或非纺织物的使用提供静电放电;活性剂比如银的使用提供诸如抗微生物活性的性能;选择性模切织物或稀洋纱的使用根据增强层的选定部分的尺寸、形状和位置而提供选择性拉伸或强度的区域;硅树脂或其它塑料网的使用提供耐热性和/或强度。
在一些情形中,可能希望衬垫是轻质的,且在这种情形中,缓冲层50可包括泡沫材料,比如低密度泡沫材料。合适的低密度泡沫材料的示例包括聚酯和聚酯聚氨酯泡沫。在一些情形中,可能希望缓冲插入物能够提供耐冲击性。在这种情形中,已经发现适合于缓冲材料的各种类型的冲击吸收材料,特别是能量吸收或率相关材料,包括泡沫。对于该应用,可能希望这种泡沫具有范围为约5至约35磅/立方英尺(pcf),更具有地约10至约30pcf,且更具体地从约15至约25pcf的密度。合适的率相关地泡沫可购于Rogers Corporation,商标名为 和PORON其为开孔微孔聚氨酯泡沫。
适合于层52、54的材料包括塑料、弹性体材料比如橡胶、热塑性弹性体(“TPE”)和/或类似材料及包括前述材料中的至少一种的组合。能够用于外层的塑料的示例包括但不限于乙烯乙酸乙烯酯(“EVA”)、尼龙、聚酯、聚乙烯、聚烯烃、聚氨酯、聚氯乙烯(“PVC”)、聚苯乙烯、聚四氟乙烯(“PTFE”)、乳胶橡胶、硅树脂、乙烯基塑料及其组合。其它可能的材料包括各种其它合成和/或非合成材料,包括但不限于纸、织物、金属、金属化塑料、塑料膜、金属箔和/或类似材料以及包括前述材料中的至少一种的组合物和/或组合。其它耐用材料可用于外层,包括针织物、纺织织物和非纺织织物、皮革、乙烯基塑料或任何其它合适材料。在一些情形中,可能希望对于层使用略微弹性的材料;因此,可拉伸织物,比如弹力纤维织物可能是期望的。拉伸织物用作层可能是期望的,这是因为其可改善凹进冲击区域和凹槽的挠曲。
在本实施例中,在增强层56中缓冲层50的厚度可在制造工艺期 间最小化,使得其厚度接近零。因此,在凹进冲击区域,特别是第二凹进冲击区域36中的缓冲材料可能对于肉眼而言是不可见的或者是仅通过使用非常敏感的厚度量规而可检测的。
保留在层中或层之间的残留缓冲材料可辅助在凹进冲击区域34、36中将层结合在一起。根据所用的材料,层之间的结合可以至少部分地是化学、热或机械结合或其组合。例如,如果用作缓冲层的材料是树脂,则在凹进冲击区域34、36中的残留树脂可起到粘合的作用以将层结合在一起。将树脂用作结合剂可能是有利的,这是因为其消除在凹进冲击区域34、36中单独的粘合剂的需要,且其在整个缓冲插入物中保持结合一致且同等柔性,这可改善其耐用性。
可替代地,如果织物用作相对置的上层和下层52、54中的一个,则在凹进冲击区域34、36中层之间的结合可至少部分地为机械的,这是由于树脂被挤压到织物中的开口或孔内,使得层56和52、54的部分在制造期间结合,导致产生所结合的层50、52、54的“孤岛(islands)”布置在所结合的层52、54的孤岛之间。
通过最小化或消除凹进冲击区域34、36中的缓冲层50,凹进冲击区域34、36的柔性被最大化,使得整个缓冲插入物能够在各种方向弯曲、挠曲、折叠和扭曲。例如,缓冲插入物能够在第二凹进冲击区域36处向后弯曲或挠曲多达180度,且在向前方向上,柔性仅受突起冲击区域的厚度和间隔限制。
在本实施例中,缓冲材料和在凹进区域34、36中靠近缓冲层的层之间的连续结合的存在是有利的,这是因为其将突起冲击区域32“锁定”在位,最小化或防止缓冲材料从缓冲插入物30出去,或者可替代地,最小化或防止诸如流体的材料进入缓冲插入物30。因此,凹进冲击区域34、36稳定缓冲插入物30,特别是缓冲材料,使得流体和其它材料不能够渗透缓冲插入物,否则这可能导致脱层。
当垫子被模制有前层、背面层或这两层时,在凹进冲击区域厚度近似对应于除缓冲层之外的层的组合厚度时,或者当缓冲层的厚度接近零时,可实现最大的垫子柔性。例如,在上述实施例中,层可能在整个缓冲插入物内(包括在凹进冲击区域中)连续地结合到缓冲层50。根据垫子的构造,当在凹进冲击区域中材料的量最小或排除时,外层和内层可结合到缓冲层或结合到彼此。将顶层结合到缓冲层的优点是提供在缓冲层上方和下方连续的、不中断的表面的能力,即除在缓冲插入物的周边处之外包住缓冲层的能力。连续的结合层加强凹进冲击区域,最小化否则可能由于在使用期间的挠性发生的破坏,这是因为凹进冲击区域比突起冲击区域薄。至少一个结合层可用于在挠曲期间保护薄的凹进冲击区域。热塑性聚氨酯膜可最小化或防止在凹进冲击区域中层的裂纹或断裂。这种层还可以在结合到泡沫时对凹进冲击区域提供强度。在凹进冲击区域的厚度较低的情形中,特别是在凹进冲击区域中膜很少或没有膜时,可能希望结合的内层和外层两者在有增强层或没有增强层的情况下维持垫子的结构完整性。可能希望对内层和外层使用具有明显弹性的材料,比如TPE膜、弹力纤维织物等。在一些实施例中,可能希望使用具有层压膜背衬的织物。作为由织物和膜构成的层压(比如聚氨酯膜层压)的顶层可能是希望的,以用以最大化凹进冲击区域的耐用性。
本发明的缓冲插入物还可以设计用以增强空气和/或湿气传递,而不明显危及保护性。突起和/或凹进冲击区域可包括穿孔(未示出),其提高湿气或空气传递率。将芯吸织物用作底层,或者与TPE膜层组合用作顶层也可提高舒适性以及穿过凹进冲击区域芯吸湿气。
高湿蒸汽传递(“MVT”)膜层的使用可以进一步提高舒适性。这种膜可以通过化学吸收/解吸起作用。这种膜的示例可购于Omniflex,产品名为Sympatex或TX1540。也可以使用微孔高MVT膜比如Goretex或Porelle(由Porvair提供)或其它类似膜。
在一个或多个层中使用活性剂可能是希望的。例如,基于银或铜的活性剂的添加可提供材料抗微生物或抗真菌保护特性。可能希望在内层或外层或膜自身中使用活性物,比如基于银或铜的活性物的添加以作为抗微生物或抗真菌剂。
用于缓冲插入物的材料和制造用于缓冲插入物的一些材料的方法在共同拥有的和共同未决的于2011年8月11日提交的美国专利申请13/208,229和于2011年10月12日提交的美国专利申请13/271,594中公开,其中每一个通过引用整体并入本文。除前述之外,适合于前述层的材料和粘合剂(如果使用的话)在前面提到的专利申请和美国公布US 2008/0034614和US 2009/0255625中公开,其也公开了用于制造本发明的缓冲插入物的技术;前述公布中的每一个通过引用整体并入本文。用于本发明的垫子的模具被设计用以允许层在足以最小化或消除在凹进冲击区域中的泡沫的条件下压缩在一起,对于某些实施例,同时允许层结合在一起。
本发明的改进的壳的优点包括但不限于改进的冲击保护(特别是在壳边缘和角部上)、较轻的重量、改进的美学、较低的制造成本和对所包住的制品的较少磨损。本公开的改进的壳包括基本上符合待保护的制品的外表面的可分离的内和外相互连接部分。除上面提到的保护之外,保护壳可适合于需要保护的任何类型的产品。
此外,许多材料(包括泡沫材料)可由于磨损和摩擦而随时间退化,从而产生可能渗透到设备内并引起功能问题的颗粒。使原材料的泡沫孔暴露是不希望的,这是因为泡沫孔可捕捉尘土或灰尘且是不美观的并且还刮伤设备。在凹进冲击区域之间包住缓冲材料在缓冲插入物的相对表面中的一个或两者上提供保护或屏障层,所述保护或屏障层能够防止或最小化磨损、摩擦、微粒形成能够且为泡沫提供湿气保护。因此,缓冲插入物可包括多层,诸如具有连续地结合的顶表面层 的软泡沫部分,其中软部分的顶表面突出穿过硬壳中的开口。在这些情形中,平坦的侧面或底层的织品或膜可被选择以便为壳制造衬里。横跨整个插入物延伸的连续结合的膜或织物层与没有连续层的泡沫相比提供明显改进的耐用性。
当使用连续结合的膜时,布置在突起冲击区域之间的缓冲插入物的厚度可在约0.020”(一英寸的千分之二十)范围内,但是其可以更厚或更薄或者可以为零(如果不需要总体震动保护)。在不增加太多的厚度的情况下,对于吸震性来说,约0.020”至约0.060”的厚度是希望的。改变突起和/或凹进冲击区域的能力使得能够根据需要对其它设备定制壳,比如摄像机壳、镜头壳、行李、ipad等。
硬塑料壳用作用于电子设备的保护壳的一个缺点是,当设备掉落时,壳通常破碎并必须被更换。本保护壳具有的额外优点是,由于突出的突起冲击区域首先削弱冲击而使其保护硬壳免于破裂。
许多保护壳的另一缺点是设备内部相比受前面或背面冲击而言更易于受侧面或边缘冲击破坏。在本发明的壳中,对插入物使用冲击吸收泡沫,比如PORON XRD,提供免于这种冲击的保护。
应注意,此处术语“第一”、“第二”等不表示任何顺序或重要性,而是用于区分一个元件与另一个元件,且术语“一”和“一个”此处不表示数量的限制,而是表示存在至少一个涉及项。类似地,应注意,在此使用了术语“底部”和“顶部”,除非另外表明,否则其仅用于方便说明,且不限于任何一个位置或空间定向。此外,结合数量使用的修饰语“约”包括所述值且具有由上下文表示的意义(例如,包括与特定量的测量有关的误差度)。
使用标准命名来描述化合物。例如,不是由指示的基团取代的任何位置应理解为由表示的键或氢原子填充的其化合价。不是在两个字 母或符号之间的破折号(“-”)用于表示取代基的连接点。例如,-CHO是通过羟基的碳连接的。此处除非另外限定,否则本文所有百分比指重量百分比(“wt%”)。此外,本文公开的所有范围是包括端点的且可组合的(例如,“高达约25重量百分比(wt%)”,其中约5wt%至约20wt%是理想的,且约10wt%至约15wt%是更理想的范围包括端点和范围的所有中间值,例如“约5wt%至约25wt%、约5wt%至约15wt%等”)。标记“+/-10%”指表示的测量值可以为从所述值减10%的量至所述值加10%的量。
最后,除非另外定义,否则本文使用的技术和科学术语与本公开所属于的本领域技术人员通常所理解的意思相同。

Claims (31)
1.一种用于电子设备的保护壳,包括:
外罩,所述外罩符合并接合所述电子设备的一部分,所述外罩具有背面部分和连接到所述背面部分的侧壁,所述外罩包括由布置在预定区域中的多个接纳孔限定的相互连接的支撑构件,并且所述外罩包括预定的厚度;
缓冲插入物,所述缓冲插入物包括邻近第一凹进冲击区域布置的突起冲击区域,所述突起冲击区域布置在与所述多个接纳孔对应的预定区域中且具有比所述外罩的厚度大的预定厚度;
其中,当所述保护壳被组装到所述电子设备上时,所述多个相互连接的支撑构件与所述第一凹进冲击区域接合,使得所述外罩使所述缓冲插入物与所述电子设备相符合,且所述突起冲击区域与所述多个接纳孔接合,使得所述突起冲击区域延伸到所述外罩的外表面之上,并且其中所述突起冲击区域包括位于其上表面中的凹槽,使得所述凹槽的厚度小于所述突起冲击区域的厚度且大于所述第一凹进冲击区域的厚度。
2.根据权利要求1所述的保护壳,还包括一个或更多个第二凹进冲击区域,其中所述第二凹进冲击区域的厚度小于所述第一凹进冲击区域的厚度。
3.根据权利要求1所述的保护壳,其中所述缓冲插入物包括冲击吸收材料。
4.根据权利要求1所述的保护壳,其中所述缓冲插入物包括多层层压材料。
5.根据权利要求3所述的保护壳,其中所述冲击吸收材料布置在由热塑性弹性体(TPE)材料制成的相对置的上层和下层之间。
6.根据权利要求4所述的保护壳,其中所述缓冲插入物还包括冲击吸收材料,所述冲击吸收材料布置在由热塑性弹性体(TPE)材料制成的相对置的上层和下层之间,所述层压材料还包括布置在所述冲击吸收材料和由TPE材料制成的所述下层之间的增强层。
7.根据权利要求6所述的保护壳,其中所述层压材料还包括邻近所述由TPE材料制成的下层布置的织物层,其与所述冲击吸收材料相对置。
8.根据权利要求3所述的保护壳,其中所述缓冲插入物是率相关材料。
9.根据权利要求8所述的保护壳,其中所述率相关材料是聚氨酯泡沫。
10.根据权利要求1所述的保护壳,其中所述突起冲击区域的预定厚度足以吸收冲击并且/或者足以防止来自所述冲击的震动传递到所述电子设备。
11.根据权利要求1所述的保护壳,其中所述保护壳包括具有80Shore A至100Shore A的硬度的弹性体材料。
12.根据权利要求1所述的保护壳,其中所述保护壳包括具有95Shore A的硬度的弹性体材料。
13.根据权利要求11所述的保护壳,其中所述弹性体材料包括热塑性聚氨酯。
14.根据权利要求1所述的保护壳,其中所述外罩的厚度在0.050”至0.090”的范围。
15.根据权利要求1所述的保护壳,其中所述第一凹进冲击区域的厚度在0.025”至0.045”的范围。
16.根据权利要求2所述的保护壳,其中所述第二凹进冲击区域的厚度在0.010”至0.030”的范围。
17.根据权利要求1所述的保护壳,其中当所述保护壳处于已组装构型时,所述突起冲击区域延伸到所述外罩的外表面之上。
18.根据权利要求6所述的保护壳,其中所述增强层是多孔的。
19.根据权利要求6所述的保护壳,其中所述增强层是非纺织织物。
20.根据权利要求6所述的保护壳,其中所述增强层是水力缠结的非纺织物。
21.根据权利要求1所述的保护壳,其中所述外罩是整体型的。
22.根据权利要求1所述的保护壳,其中所述缓冲插入物是整体型的。
23.根据权利要求1所述的保护壳,其中所述外罩与所述缓冲插入物共模制在一起。
24.根据权利要求1所述的保护壳,其中所述外罩和所述缓冲插入物粘性地连接起来。
25.根据权利要求5所述的保护壳,其中TPE材料制成的所述上层和下层连续地结合到所述冲击吸收材料。
26.根据权利要求4所述的保护壳,其中所述缓冲插入物包括缓冲材料,所述缓冲材料布置在相对置的邻近层之间并且被连续地结合到所述相对置的邻近层。
27.根据权利要求2所述的保护壳,其中在所述保护壳被组装时,所述缓冲插入物被折叠在所述第二凹进冲击区域上且插入所述外罩内,使得所述突起冲击区域与所述接纳孔对齐,且使得所述第二凹进冲击区域与所述保护壳的角部对齐。
28.根据权利要求27所述的保护壳,其中在所述保护壳被组装时,所述突起冲击区域被接纳到所述接纳孔内并至少部分地穿过所述接纳孔,并且所述突起冲击区域的一部分延伸到所述外罩的上表面之上。
29.根据权利要求1所述的保护壳,其中所述保护壳包括具有80Shore A至100Shore A的范围的硬度的弹性体材料,且所述缓冲插入物包括具有每立方英尺5至35磅范围内的密度的率相关的聚氨酯泡沫。
30.一种用于电子设备的保护壳,包括:
外罩,所述外罩符合并接合所述电子设备的一部分,所述外罩具有背面部分和连接到所述背面部分的侧壁,所述外罩包括由布置在预定区域中的多个接纳孔限定的相互连接的支撑构件,且所述外罩包括预定厚度的弹性体材料,所述弹性体材料具有80Shore A至100Shore A的范围的硬度;
多层缓冲插入物,所述多层缓冲插入物包括邻近第一凹进冲击区域布置的突起冲击区域,所述突起冲击区域布置在与所述多个接纳孔对应的预定区域中且具有比所述外罩的厚度大的预定厚度,所述缓冲插入物包括多层连续地结合的材料和增强层,所述多层连续地结合的材料包括布置在由热塑性弹性体材料(TPE)制成的相对置的层之间的率相关的泡沫,并且所述增强层布置在所述率相关的泡沫层和所述TPE层中的一个TPE层之间;
一个或更多个第二凹进冲击区域,所述第二凹进冲击区域具有比所述第一凹进冲击区域的厚度小的厚度;
其中,当所述保护壳被组装到所述电子设备上时,所述多个相互连接的支撑构件与所述第一凹进冲击区域接合,使得所述外罩使所述缓冲插入物与所述电子设备相符合,且所述突起冲击区域与所述多个接纳孔接合,使得所述突起冲击区域延伸到所述外罩的外表面之上。
31.一种用于电子设备的保护壳,包括:
外罩,所述外罩具有背面部分和连接到所述背面部分的侧壁,所述外罩接合所述电子设备,所述外罩包括符合所述电子设备的一部分的材料,且所述外罩具有预定的厚度;
缓冲插入物,所述缓冲插入物包括率相关材料,使得当所述缓冲插入物布置在所述外罩中时,所述外罩使所述缓冲插入物与所述电子设备相符合,所述外罩还包括由布置在预定区域中的多个接纳孔限定的相互连接的支撑构件,所述缓冲插入物还包括邻近第一凹进冲击区域布置的突起冲击区域,所述突起冲击区域布置在与所述多个接纳孔对应的预定区域中且具有比所述外罩的厚度大的预定厚度,当所述外罩使所述缓冲插入物与所述电子设备相符合时,所述突起冲击区域与所述多个接纳孔接合,使得所述突起冲击区域与所述外罩的外表面共面,且使得所述多个相互连接的支撑构件布置在所述第一凹进冲击区域部分中并与所述第一凹进冲击区域部分接合。
