Genel Formül (I) ile ifade edilen aminobütirik asit türevleri ve tuzlari (her simge tarifnameden tanimlandigi gibidir.)Türevler matris metalloproteinazleri inhibe ederler ve dolayisiyla romatizma, osteortrit, patolojik kemik resorpsiyonu, osteoporoz, periodontal hastaliklar, interstisyel nefrit, arterioskleroz, pulmoner amfizem, hepatik siroz, kornea zedelenmesi, kanser hücrelerinin metastazina ve infiltrasyonuna veya çoglalmasina bagli hastaliklar, Otoimmün hastaliklar (Crohn hastaligi ve Sjögren hastaligi), beyaz kan hücrelerinin göçüne veya infiltrasyonuna bagli hastaliklar, yeni damarlanma, multipl skleroz, aort anevrizmasi, endometrit ve benzeri gibi hastaliklarin önlenmesi ve/veya tedavisinde yararlidirlar.
