Abstract
Tidligere fremgangsmåter for dyrking av humane embryonale stamceller har krevd enten fibroblastnæringsceller eller et medium som er blitt eksponert for fibroblastnæringsceller for å opprettholde stamcellene i en udifferensiert tilstand. Det er nå fimnet at dersom høye nivåer av fibroblastvekstfaktor, gamma-aminosmørsyre, pipekolinsyre, litium og transformerende vekstfaktor beta tilsettes til mediet til hvilket stamcellen dyrkes, vil stamcellene bibeholde udifferensiert tilstand gjennom mange passasjer, selv uten næringsceller eller kondisjonert medium.
