Absorberend voorwerp voor het opvangen van urine
De uitvinding betreft een absorberend voorwerp voor het opvangen van urine, welk voorwerp cellulosevezels of watten als absorberend materiaal bevat met een kiemdodend koperzout als deodorant is geïmpregneerd.
5 Een dergelijk absorberend voorwerp is bekend uit het Amerikaanse octrooischrift 3.172.817.
Dit Amerikaanse octrooischrift is in het algemeen gericht op hygiënische voorwerpen zoals maandverband, tampons, luiers, kledingbeschermers en inlegzolen, die met een deodorant zijn geïmpregneerd, en ook op hygiënische preparaten zoals strooipoeders, hygiënische crèmes, zepen en vloeistoffen voor lichaamshygiëne, die een dergelijk deodorant bevatten. Als deodorant worden metaalzouten (vooral koper-, 10 aluminium-, magnesium-, kobalt-, en zirkoniumzouten) van β-diketonen aanbevolen, die ten minste in geringe mate in water oplosbaar dienen te zijn. Verondersteld wordt dat hun deodorantwerking berust op een ingrijpen in het metabolisme van bacteriën en fungi die op de huid aanwezig zijn, waardoor de vorming van ongewenste en met name onaangenaam riekende afscheidingsprodukten wordt voorkomen.
Voorbeeld 1 van het genoemde octrooischrift beschrijft watten van cellulosevezels die in de vorm van 15 een waterige suspensie met een alcoholische oplossing van koper-acetylacetonaat (het koperzout van 2.4- pentaandion) worden behandeld en dan tot een doorlopend vlies worden omgezet.
Voorbeeld 2 van het genoemde octrooischrift beschrijft eenzelfde materiaal dat in vliesvorm met een waterige suspensie van het koperzout van 5-fenyl-2,4-pentaandion wordt behandeld. De geïmpregneerde vliezen uit voorbeeld 1 en voorbeeld 2 worden daarna gebruikt als absorberende kern voor maandverband, 20 waarin zij een deodorantwerking uitoefenen.
Voorbeeld 21 van het genoemde octrooischrift beschrijft een ietwat afwijkend materiaal, namelijk een textielvlies met een gewicht van 30 gram per m2, dat met een suspensie van het koperzout van 2-methyl- 3.5- heptaandion wordt behandeld en daarna tot wikkelluiers wordt omgezet. Gesteld wordt dat dergelijke luiers, zelfs na lang dragen, geen kenmerkende ontledingsgeur van urine zullen vertonen.
25 Bij deze bekende voorwerpen valt op te merken dat de in voorbeeld 1, 2 en 21 genoemde koperzouten van β-diketonen slechts in beperkte mate in water oplosbaar zijn, zodat men voor het impregneren van de vezels een waterige suspensie of een alcoholische oplossing dient te gebruiken, hetgeen de impregnering bemoeilijkt en compliceert. Verder is de opgebrachte hoeveelheid koperzout in de voorbeelden slechts gering, namelijk 10 tot 30 mg koperzout per 10 gram watten in voorbeeld 2, en 0,2 gew.% koperzout, 30 betrokken op het vlies, in voorbeeld 21. Tenslotte doet de opmerking over langdurige werkzaamheid in voorbeeld 21 vermoeden, dat de oplosbaarheid van het koperzout ook in urine gering is, zodat tijdens het gebruik slechts weinig koperzout aan de geabsorbeerde urine wordt afgestaan.
Bij onderzoek, dat tot de uitvinding leidde, is nu gebleken, dat eveneens uitstekende en in sommige opzichten betere resultaten kunnen worden behaald door de absorberende voorwerpen in tegenstelling tot 35 de voorstellen van het Amerikaanse octrooischrift 3.172.817 te impregneren met koperformiaat, -oxalaat, -tartraat, -citraat, -lactaat, -sulfaat, -chloride, -acetaat, of -boraat.
Deze koperzouten zijn goed oplosbaar in urine, hetgeen betekent dat zij tijdens het gebruik van het absorberende voorwerp niet alleen op de huid van de drager, maar ook, na oplossen, in voldoende mate op de geabsorbeerde urine kunnen inwerken. De meeste van deze koperzouten zijn ook goed oplosbaar in 40 water, waardoor zij gemakkelijk via versproeien van een waterige oplossing op de vezels van het absorberende voorwerp kunnen worden aangebracht.
Evenals de koperzouten van β-diketonen hebben de voornoemde goed oplosbare koperzouten een kiemdodende werking, zodat zij de groei van bacteriën op de huid en in de urine doeltreffend kunnen voorkomen en daardoor een deodorantwerking uitoefenen. In het bijzonder geldt dit voor koperacetaat, 45 waarvan niet alleen de koperionen maar ook de acetaationen een kiemdodende werking hebben.
De voornoemde goed oplosbare koperzouten zijn vooral nuttig bij het bestrijden van een ongewenste ammoniakgeur. Door de kiemdodende werking wordt de vorming van ammoniak uit urine tegengegaan, maar mocht toch wat ammoniak worden gevormd, dan kan deze door de koperionen in de urine tot een tweewaardig kopertetrammine-ion worden gebonden, dat reukloos is. Dit is vooral van belang voor patiënten 50 die incontinent zijn ten aanzien van de urinelozing en die aan urinebuisinfecties lijden.
De hoeveelheid van het voornoemde goed oplosbare koperzout in het absorberende voorwerp dient uiteraard voldoende te zijn om gedurende de gebruiksduur van dat voorwerp een voldoende deodorantwerking op te absorberen hoeveelheid urine te kunnen uitoefenen. In het algemeen zal deze hoeveelheid overeenkomen met ten minste 150 μg koper per ml van het vloeistofvol urne waarvoor het absorberende 55 voorwerp is gedimensioneerd. De bovengrens ligt doorgaans bij 700 μg koper per ml, terwijl geschikte praktijkwaarden 200 tot 500 μg koper per ml, in het bijzonder 300 μg koper per ml, zijn.
De uitvinding verschaft dan ook een absorberend voorwerp van het in de aanvang genoemde type, dat 192605 2 gekenmerkt is doordat het als kiemdodend koperzout koperformiaat, koperoxalaat, kopertatraat, kopercitraat, koperlactaat, kopersulfaat, koperchloride, koperacetaat of koperboraat bevat, in een hoeveelheid overeenkomend met ten minste 150 pg koper per ml van het vloeistofvolume waarvoor het absorberende voorwerp is gedimensioneerd. Bij voorkeur bestaat het kiemdodende koperzout daarbij uit koperacetaat.
5 in een speciale uitvoeringsvorm is het koperacetaat aanwezig in een oppervlaktelaag van het voorwerp, namelijk de laag die het eerst met urine in contact zal komen, in een hoeveelheid van 1,2 tot 2,5 gram koperacetaat per m2 van die oppervlaktelaag.
Voor de goede orde wordt opgemerkt, dat een remmende werking op de ammoniakvorming in urine ook reeds aan luiers met koperacetylacetonaat is toegeschreven, zie het Amerikaanse octrooischrift 3.707.148, 10 kolom 1, regels 8-46. Meer geschikt is echter volgens dit Amerikaanse octrooischrift het in de luiers opnemen van een ammoniak absorberend middel dat niet direct met de huid in contact komt. Geschikte ammoniak absorberende middelen zijn zuren met een pK-waarde tussen 1,8 en 4,5, zoals citroenzuur, appelzuur, wijnsteenzuur, maleïnezuur, fumaarzuur, malonzuur, barnsteenzuur, cellulosefosfaat, geoxideerde cellulose, kationenwisselaars in zure vorm, en silicagelen. De ammoniak absorberende middelen 15 kunnen tezamen met een bactericide, zoals 2-broom-2-nitropropaan-1,3-diol, worden toegepast. Deze stand van de techniek geeft een deskundige geen aanwijzing, dat de volgens de uitvinding te gebruiken koperzouten een doeltreffende werking als geuronderdrukkend middel in een cellulosevezels of watten bevattend absorberend voorwerp voor het opvangen van urine zouden hebben.
Verder wordt opgemerkt dat in het Franse octrooischrift 793.049 is voorgesteld om een vlies van 20 cellulosewatten tijdens de fabricage daarvan, in nog vochtige toestand, met een oplossing van een steriliserend metaalzout, zoals een koperzout, te besproeien. Dit wattenvlies kan dan later als verbandmate-riaal worden gebruikt. Van een absorberend voorwerp voor het opvangen van urine is geen sprake en de juiste aard van het koperzout wordt niet genoemd.
In het Amerikaanse octrooischrift 2.856.330 worden katoenen weefsels beschreven, die met een 25 oplossing van koperacetaat (of een ander oplosbaar koperzout, zoals koperchloride, kopernitraat of kopersulfaat) zijn geïmpregneerd. Bezwaar is dat de zo geïmpregneerde katoenweefsels een groenige kleur vertonen en dikwijls waterafstotende eigenschappen bezitten. Daarom wordt volgens dit Amerikaanse octrooischrift in het impregneermiddel tevens een pyrofosfaat opgenomen. De aldus geïmpregneerde weefsels worden als meermalen bruikbare luiers toegepast, waarbij gesteld wordt dat het koperzout een 30 deodorantwerking heeft en ook een ongewenste pH-stijging en ammoniakvorming verhindert. Het gaat hier om een luier zonder watten of losse cellulosevezels, waarop het koperzout zodanig met pyrofosfaat is gefixeerd dat het onoplosbaar is geworden en zich niet meer laat uitwassen. Deze stand van de techniek geeft een deskundige, gelet op de sindsdien ingezette ontwikkeling om de slechts in beperkte mate in water oplosbare koperzouten van β-diketonen toe te passen (Amerikaans octrooischrift 3.172.817) dan wel gebruik 35 te maken van zure, ammoniak absorberende middelen (Amerikaans octrooischrift 3.707.148), geen aanleiding om te veronderstellen, dat het in een cellulosevezels of watten bevattend absorberend voorwerp voor het opvangen van urine opnemen van koperacetaat, koperchloride of kopersulfaat in een hoeveelheid overeenkomend met ten minste 150 μg koper per ml van het vloeistofvolume waarvoor het absorberende voorwerp is gedimensioneerd, tot een doeltreffende deodorantwerking zou leiden.
40 Het Amerikaanse octrooischrift 2.762.822 beschrijft een kiemdodend reactieproduct van kopergluconaat I en een alkalimetaal-aminobenzoaat, dat als deodorant bruikbaar is in chirurgisch verband en maandver band. Het blijkt echter niet oplosbaar in water te zijn.
Tenslotte beschrijft de niet-voorgepubliceerde, mede voor Nederland geldende, Europese octrooiaanvrage 0 019 371 een absorberend materiaal dat geschikt is voor het immobiliseren van bloed, met inbegrip 45 van menstruatievloeistof. Dit materiaal bestaat uit een in bloed opzwelbaar in water nagenoeg onoplosbaar, covalent verknoopt anionisch polyelektrolyt, waarvan ten minste sommige anionen in verbinding staan met contra-ionen van overgangsmetalen (waaronder van kopersulfaat afkomstig koper) welke een bloedstollend vermogen hebben. Een kenmerkende eigenschap van dit product is dat bij contact met bloed de contra-ionen van het overgangsmetaal vanuit het polyelektrolyt naar het bloed overgaan en dit doen stollen. Het 50 gaat hier dus om een ander soort product dan bij de uitvinding, waar het absorberend voorwerp cellulosevezels of watten bevat als absorberend materiaal.
Thans zal het absorberende voorwerp volgens de uitvinding nader worden besproken.
Het absorberende voorwerp bevat cellulosevezels of watten als absorberend materiaal en is bedoeld voor het opvangen van urine, zodat het kan gaan om een babyluier, een incontinentieluier, inlegkruisje of 55 een stuk maandverband. Doorgaans is een dergelijk voorwerp bedoeld voor eenmalig gebruik. Afhankelijk van de afmetingen zal het 50-700 ml urine kunnen absorberen.

Absorberend voorwerp voor het opvangen van urine, welk voorwerp cellulosevezels of watten als absorberend materiaal bevat met een kiemdodend koperzout als deodorant is geïmpregneerd, met het kenmerk, dat het voorwerp als kiemdodend koperzout koperformiaat, koperoxalaat, kopertartraat, kopercitraat, koperlactaat, kopersulfaat, koperchioride, koperacetaat of koperboraat bevat, in een hoeveelheid overeenkomend met ten minste 150 μς koper per ml van het vloeistofvolume waarvoor het absorberende 55 voorwerp is gedimensioneerd.
