Abstract
Un metodo y un aparato para fundir metales utilizan energia de microondas como fuente de calor principal. El metal o mezcla de metales se coloca en un crisol ceramico (10) que acopla, al menos de manera parcial, con las microondas que se usaran. El crisol esta encerrado en un alojamiento ceramico (14) para aislamiento y colocado en una camara de microondas (1). La camara (1) puede vaciarse y rellenarse para eliminar el oxigeno. Despues de fundir el metal, el crisol (10) puede retirarse para vaciarse o el metal puede vaciarse dentro de la camara (1) por goteo o colocada hacia un molde calentado dentro de la camara. El acoplamiento aparente de la microondas con metal fundido o suavizado produce altas temperaturas con grandes ahorros de energia.
