Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce a composite alloy uniformly dispersed with particles by subjecting a hermetic vessel in which the particles are packed to pressure reducing and preheating, immersing this vessel into the molten metal in another vessel and gushing the molten metal into the hermetic vessel. CONSTITUTION:The base of the hermetic vessel evenly provided with plural holes 3 on the base is closed by an Al plate 2 and the SiC particles 4 are packed therein. This vessel 1 is put into a heating furnace 9 and is heated; the moisture and gas are simultaneously removed therefrom by evacuation. On the other hand, an Al alloy 10 is melted separately in a melting furnace 11 and the vessel 1 is immersed into this molten metal. The Al plate 2 closing the holes 3 at the base of the vessel 1 is, therefore, melted rapidly and the holes 3 are opened, by which the melt of the Al alloy 10 in the melting furnace 11 is admitted in the form of the jet into the vessel 1, as the inside of the vessel 1 is under the reduced pressure. The vessel 1 is pulled up to allow the molten metal dispersed with the particles 4 to fall into the melting furnace 11 immediately after the molten metal is filled into the vessel 1. Stirring vanes 15 are then inserted into the melting furnace 11 to stir the molten metal and to obtain the homogeneous melt of the composite alloy 16. This molten metal is poured into a pressure casting mold, by which a casting is produced.
