Abstract

Esta invencion se relaciona con un líquido ionico que comprende un haluro de imidazolio dialquilsustituido en donde al menos uno de dichos sustituyentes alquilo tiene 6 o más átomos de carbono, con un método de preparacion de tales haluros de imidazolio y con el uso de los mismos para reacciones de conversion de hidrocarburos, tales como oligomerizacion o polimerizacion de olefinas y para la alquilacion de parafinas, isoparafinas o compuestos aromáticos con olefinas. La polimerizacion de refinados C4 usando estos líquidos ionicos como catalizadores, permite incorporar un porcentaje mucho mayor de n-butenos en el polímero producto en comparacion con el porcentaje que sería posible en procesos convencionales de polimerizacion cationica.
