Abstract
Un sensor óptico flexible de detección de impacto está montado sobre una parte exterior del parachoques delantero para señalar un episodio de impacto de barrera rígida descentrada de una esquina delantera de un vehículo de motor y el despliegue de una bolsa de aire de barrera rígida descentrada pequeña montada sobre el larguero delantero. La bolsa de aire está adosada cerca de un extremo distal de un larguero delantero. El sensor óptico flexible de detección de impacto, adosado a una superficie posterior de una parte exterior del parachoques delantero, genera una señal tras un episodio de impacto de esquina, por lo cual un controlador procesa la señal generada por el sensor de detección de impacto y acciona de manera eléctrica un inflador tras una severidad predeterminada de impacto. La bolsa de aire en la condición inflada actúa contra la barrera rígida descentrada para generar una fuerza lateral contra la barrera rígida descentrada para empujar al vehículo de motor lejos de la barrera y de ese modo redirigir la energía de impacto mediante el movimiento lateral del vehículo de motor.
