Abstract

Se dan a conocer composiciones de polímeros de poliéster-epóxido modificados con isocianato (i-PEEP). Las composiciones de i-PEEP comprenden un producto de reacción de un compuesto de poliepóxido, un poliisocianato y una composición de poliol de poliéster. La relación proporcional de equivalentes epoxi a equivalentes hidroxilo se encuentra dentro del intervalo de 0.2 a 2. El índice de i-PEEP, como se define en este documento, se encuentra dentro del intervalo de 100 a 200. La composición de i-PEEP tiene una Tg dentro del intervalo de -30 °C a 35 °C. También se dan a conocer procesos a baja temperatura y a temperatura elevada, catalizados por bases o ácidos de Lewis, para producir las composiciones de i-PEEP. En una simple pero innovadora estrategia, una nueva clase de polímeros útiles para recubrimientos, elastómeros, adhesivos, selladores y otros productos valiosos, se ensamblan a partir de materiales de inicio fácilmente disponibles, sin dependencia de las poliaminas típicamente utilizadas para curar sistemas epoxi.
