Abstract

Se dan a conocer composiciones polímero poliéter epóxido. Las composiciones comprenden un producto de reacción de un compuesto poliepóxido y una composición poliol que comprende un poliol poliéter. La proporción de equivalentes epoxi a equivalentes hidroxilo está dentro del intervalo de 0.5:1 a 3:1. La composición epóxido-poliéter tiene una Tg dentro del intervalo de -40°C a 60°C. La composición poliol poliéter tiene un valor hidroxilo dentro del intervalo de 150 a 800 mg KOH/g y una funcionalidad hidroxilo promedio dentro del intervalo de 3.5 a 8.0. En algunos aspectos, la composición poliol además comprende un poliol poliéster. También se dan a conocer procesos a temperatura baja y elevada catalizados mediante bases o ácidos de Lewis para elaborar las composiciones de poliéter epóxido. En una simple pero innovadora aproximación, una nueva clase de polímeros útiles para recubrimientos, elastómeros, adhesivos, selladores y otros productos valiosos se ensamblan a partir de materiales de inicio disponibles fácilmente sin depender de poliaminas o poliisocianatos.
