Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un procedimiento para la producción de silicio o ferrosilicio en un horno electrico de cuba baja, en el cual las preformas para la materia prima son formadas primero que contienen dióxido de silicio de grano fino y carbón en exceso con respecto a la reducción a carburo de silicio y las preformas para la materia prima son introducidas en el horno de cuba baja como una carga en mezcla con el dióxido de silicio en forma de terrón, dióxido de silicio en los moldes para la materia prima que son reducidos a carburo de silicio en una parte del horno electrico de cuba baja a una temperatura de menos de 1600 grados C y los aglomerados de la estructura de coque siendo formados del carbón de los moldes para la materia prima no usado durante esta reducción, el dióxido de silicio fundido añadido en forma de terrón estando reducido, con el carburo de silicio y carbón forma los aglomerados de estructura de coque, a silicio en una parte inferior del horno electrico de cuba baja a una temperatura superior a 1600 grados C, de preferencia de 1800 a 2000 grados C.
