Abstract
PURPOSE:To shorten the time required for charging a cold keeping material (heat- insulating material) into a space defined between inner and outer shells of a tank, by using an inert gas as carrier, and carrying out both of charging of cold keeping material and replacement of inert gas in a single stage. CONSTITUTION:Foamed pearlite 10 obtained by calcining raw ore in calciner 1 is carried to gas transporting means 2'. The foamed pearlite 10 is charged into a space formed between inner and outer shells 6, 7 of tank 3 by N2-gas supplied from N2-gas supplying means, and the N2-gas is also charged in the space through replacement with air that has been filled in the space. Floating pearlite going to recirculate in this while is filtered by filter 5' and made to leave in tank 3. Since, according to the above arrangement, N2-gas is charged also in the space between inner and outer shells 6 and 7 when charging of pearlite 10 is completed, both of charging of cold keeping material such as pearlite and replacement of inert gas can be carried out in a single stage, so that the time required for the work can be shortened.
