Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable ground converter slag to be reused as a raw material for iron making by mixing a specific amount of coke powder into said slag, and subjecting the same to high-temp. reduction at specific temperatures in a solid state thereby dephosphorizing the same. CONSTITUTION:The raw material slag (a) prepared by adding and mixing 5-30% coke powder of about <=1mm. to the converter slag ground to about <=1mm. is charged into a reducing furnace 1 through its charge port 2 via a hopper 7 and a screw conveyor 8, and air is forcibly blasted therein through a blast port 5 to blow up said raw material slag (a) through a grate 4 and form fluid layers, whereby the slag is reduced at high temperatures of 1,000-1,400 deg.C. The P2O5 in the converter slag is reduced and evaporated by the following formula. P2O5+5C 2P+5CO. The dephosphorized converter slag is carried as treated slag (b) into a vessel 10. In this way, about 70% of S is removed simultaneously with dephosphorization, and the converter slag which has hithero been disposed as the material to be discarded for reclamation is regenerated as good auxiliary raw materials for sintered ore and converter steel.
