Abstract

PURPOSE: Coal is fed into coke furnaces in accordance with the feed-rate pattern that is previously prepared so as to correspond to the change in the formation of carry-over with the passage of time, thereby reducing coal dusts that are accompnied with the generated gas and introduced into gas pipes.
CONSTITUTION: Coal stored in tank 5 is fed on chain conveyor 3 through valve 4. When coal is charged into carbonization chamber 2, shoot truck 6 above coke furnace 1 is moved to the carbonization chamber 2 and lid 8 of chain conveyor 3 and lid 7 for coal charging on the coke furnace are opened, then the chain conveyor 3 and the carbonization chamber 2 are connected with shoot 9. Thereby coal is fed from chain conveyor 3 into carbonization chamber 2. The capacity of chain conveyor 3 for carrying coal is made much larger than that of valve 4 and the rate of coal charging is decided depending upon the rate of expelling coal by valve 4. The rotating speed of valve 4 is varied according to the pattern as described above.
