Abstract

1489735 Coking coal BERGWERKSVERBAND GmbH and DIDDIER ENG GmbH 5 April 1976 [4 April 1975] 13642/76 Heading C5E A method of reducing the carry over of coal dust into the gas collecting main 31 when preheated particulate coal is introduced into coking ovens 29 comprises moistening the coal with 0À5-3% by weight of mineral coal tar and then pouring the coal into the oven through a plurality of apertures in the oven roof. In the arrangement illustrated, the coal is heated in flying stream driers 3, 7 by combustion gases from burner 16, and is then passed via cyclone 9 and screw conveyer 10 to a hopper 11, being sprayed with tar at the points indicated by arrows 25. The preheated coal is passed from the hopper 11, via chain conveyer 26, to the coking oven 29 and is further sprayed with tar at 25a. The tar used may contain 3-7% by weight of water, and up to 10% by weight of a wetting agent.
